Seriously,Orlando is a tragic representative of Florida Kissimmee, even worse! Every hustler and liar is either here, has been here or on their way here is beyond words how bad this place is. Wish someone had been as honest with me. |

Well then I wish the both of you a lot of luck. Tampa area is indeed beautiful and I would not hesitate a bit if given the chance of job opportunity to move there. But I think Orlando will be nice also. I am used to high crime and some dirthole cities from Europe so there is no shocking me. i seen some of the bad sides of Orlando (Crack Heads) last time I drove through on vacation but I did not think of it to much at the time. Well now it's to late. My family and I are getting ready to move and have been very busy in the last weeks. Hope to hear from you some day again. Let me know how things worked out for you. Take care ![]() |

I would look for the job first, rent for 6 months before deciding on where you really wanted to live. I believe Tampa/St Pete/Clearwater is a much larger job market, unless you are in the tourist business. You could also consider Lakeland or many of the area small towns depending on how much you like the commute.
Funny about your description of the worst parts of town. I consider Pine Hills to be the worst which is NW Orlando, the one area you claim is good There are a few pockets in the Orlando area you really don't want to be in, West Orlando being one of them until you get to MetroWest and beyond. South Orlando until you get past the Airport. But I would really need a map to draw you a picture ![]() |

No comparison, Tampa is better in every area. Better restaurants, less crime, a beautiful bay and a much safer down town. For example if you go to a Tampa Lightning game at Channelside it is such a nice experience not to get bombarded with panhandlers. You get the feeling that you are actually safe. Going to an Orlando Magic game is like being dropped into Manhatten in the 1987 Kurt Russell movie, Escape From New York. Orlando is a giant sewer and it is inexcusable for anyone to consider moving here for any job or otherwise. The only reason, I am here is because my dumb ex wife moved here and if I don't stay here I'd never see my son again.

It's a struggle everyday but all we can do is try to remain positive. For the first time in I don't know how long I was able to go outside without dying. The high was only 88 today and with lower humidity.

Alot of us love Florida, but alot of people from out of state come on here saying how wonderfull everything is here but they only say things based on a visit to the Disney/attractions area.......Orlando has some really diverse looking areas and its kind of neat how things look.....but the people here and thier attitudes make it ugly to me......Crime is here like every city but it is at a higher rate and it seems to be getting worse in the last couple years....that is why you hear all the "negativity" .....lol.......if that's what you call it...LOL......or what it really is called "FACTS" coming from when people on here reporting the way they see Orlando........What part of Orlando do you live in? |

If you are still relocating to the Orlando area, send me an email at mom404@gmail.com and I will help you out as much as possible. I know how hard it is to move to a new area and not know anything or what is expected or rules.
I live in a great area, close to the airport and not far from the attractions, everything is within 15-20 minute drive, the airport is 7 miles and some brand new apartments and homes. My neighbor has even put his house on the market (he had one of those ARM) and now it is increasing to $3500 a month on his mortgage and he can't afford it. He had originally put it in the market at $347 but has dropped it considerably, not bad for the Lake Nona area (if you read all the posts about this area, it is very nice and considered to be sooooooooo expensive), LOL, but there are some gems to be found out there. Good Luck and it is so nice now that Lufthansa flies directly to MCO. |

Winter Springs closer to Red Bug than 434 and Oviedo AWAY from UCF are nice areas. The closer you get to 50...the crappier it gets. The only area near 50 and east I'd consider are Waterford Lakes/Avalon as long as its AWAY from the 408 and AWAY from the dump/steamplant. Every other area east and/or SE is crap and wouldn't bother with. |
