Youll be fine as long as your ok with Ghettowest. I moved away and will stay away put it this way.... People in Pine HIlls know Metro West is supposed to be a high sclass of living so why not walk a few blocks to rob a house then be able to carry the stuff home lol sorry to make light of the situation but people who live in Metro West are not causeing the crime they are mere victims of Crime Hills. But think of it this way...would you rob your poor nieghbor or go a couple blocks away to rob a person with some money. Lets face it at some apartments bieng in the 2 thousand range to rent thats a lot considering rent off Hiawassee in Pine Hills is just $400.

I agree with the logic you have when it comes to living in the Metrowest area

In my experience you can be a part of the solution or part of the problem. As result of living in NYC for a number of years I saw this first hand. The media likes to give Rudy Giuliani all the credit for reducing crime in the city, but in my opinion the residents of the city played a major role. They were fed up with crime and running further and further out into the surbubs, and decided to organize and do something about it. I recall my own experience when walking home from the gym one day and coming across a man being assaulted and screaming for help, before I realized it I intervened along with other residents until the police arrived and arrested the culprit. Fortunately, this was typical in my neighboorhood. People of all walks of life, ethnicities, and races would often come together for a common goal, for a better quality of life.

That's great advice...its just that there is no sense of community down here.....people are frikin afraid to even say "hi" after you tell them "hi"........I tryed to talk to a neighbor the other day and he looked at me like i was going to steal his lunch money!!

Okay, I was thinking of moving to Metrowest but after reading all the feedback, I'm totally afraid. Does anyone know of a nice neighborhood to move to other than downtown?

Since I am new to this fun community of Central Florida (any any other online forum based chat info thingy) I just learned what "rate this positivley" means and passed back the favor lol on accident but none the less WOOOO HOOO I am 12 now!

Ok now back to the post. Billy you may want to look around, everyone is different. Metrowest isn't Philly or downtown O-Town but with any neighborhood has its flaws. Bet ya didn't know that the upnorth icon pizza place in Metrowest is now actively working to curb crime in that area and the commuity has paid off/on duty officers to partol the area and they saw a significant reduction in the crime during that time so much so that they are now patroling fulltime. Residents felt it was well worth the extra money to pay so kudos to them for bieng proactive. EVERY EVERY place has its flaws In my opinion move to Clermont hehehe. Im biased!

The problem with Orlando is that due to its relatively small size, almost every neighborhood is close to high crime areas

Default Metrowest

Yes you should be concerned. I think there are areas near that are better.
