$24K, and its just a bit discouraging when I have almost $45K in debt that I haven't even started to pay back after 2 years because I can't find a decent job. Its just the area I am in.

Hey....don't get down on yourself about that....im in the same position ......i owe $40k to the loan companies for school (about the same as you owe so i know the feeling) and im working out here delivering pizza's because it is the highest paying thing i could find without having a degree where i dont have to kill myself everyday (i have a messed up knee is what i mean) .......I make about the same money as you too and live with my mother (thank god) .....if i wasnt living with her paying only $300 a month for rent i would need to find a roomate...........Are you moving here by yourself? ......If you move down by me i can get you in where i work to start out....im tight with my boss

If not thats ok .....i know pizza delivery isnt the best option in everyones life.......you can make decent money waiting tables in Orlando in the attractions area.....even in Altamonte waiters/waitresses make good amount for what they do......On a good night delivering pizzas i can make up to $120 just tips....but that doesnt happen everynight......usually if im working 8-9 hours i make about $80-$90 in tips........but there has been nights where i walked out with only $60 tips......the most i ever made was $150 in one night and it wasnt hard work either....and the lowest was $35 dollars but that is rare......just let me know of any ideas you have and ill let you know more from a local point of view on what you might be able to do in reality

Well in my opinion its a little slower and a lot worse up there...I went the other way. I think the Orlando area is generally a step down in every way imaginable; traffic, job market, air quality, entertainment, weather, crime, socially, aesthetically, and pretty much everything. I live in SW Broward too. It depends on what you are trying to escape from. What are the primary reasons you can't stand South Florida? If you name a few, I can give you an honest answer as to whether you will prefer Orlando or if you should perhaps look into another state, since I do have experience on both sides (Orlando, South FL)

I have just decided to look outside the state of FL. The wages are extremely low here and I know I can make a better living for myself elsewhere. I have friends in the same field as me making $40-50K being out of school for 2 years, and they all live in NJ, NY, Dc and atlanta, some in va. I am originally from NJ, so the salary scale here is a bit ridiculous in respect to the cost of living. But now I am stuck between a rock and hard place because I have no experience in my field, since I have taken this bs job to hold me over. I know I am not stupid, I can speak spanish, but since I am not what they call "fully bilingual" I've been passed over. I went to a good school, we are nationally recognized and ranked, so I know it can't be my education, its my LOCATION. Thanks for your input though.

Congrats on doing well in real estate especially in this market. I am a realtor LI NY and I can't wait to move to Windermere/Wintergarden. Obviously we are taking a hit up here but probably not as bad as Fl and NC. I lost approx $200k since my closing in Nov, 2005 in Independence and even more in NC...oh well...starting over. But don't let anyone tell you the market is better in NC, it's slow all over.

I hope you have a lot of money in your savings if you are moving down here. I have friends in the Real Estate and Mortgage Industry in Central Florida and they have not made money in months. The housing market is realy slow here right now.

That is a smart move, I moved to Orlando 6 months ago and I regret it. It is just realy hard to make a living here with the high cost of living and the low pay. I have a degree but that realy has not done me any good here.

I live in S. Fla too, and I want to get out of here...too expensive and crowded. i grew up here and have seen the changes! we are looking in the Orlando are as well. I have heard Seminole county is the place to be in Orlando, great schools, if you have kids. We are presently in a good school zone here (Weston) but am over the high taxes and traffic etc... you live here, do I have to go on....

I really, really find it humorous when people seek to move from an area like Weston to Orlando because of the "Traffic". Seminole County is nice, but its a step down from where you are now. Trust me, I have done both sides (live in Weston, lived in Davie for a short time, used to live in Winter Springs, Longwood, Altamonte,Orlando proper, and Sanford). People think theirs something wrong with me, but theres some kind of conformist effect where people feel they are supposed to think this is as bad as it gets down here because somebody else said so..

I have spent quite a bit of time in Apopka, fl with friends and it is much slower. I actually did not think I could ever live in a place so slow compared to Broward county? But I am ready for the change, believe me it is slower!
