. The Oviedo schools are excellent and it really is a lot slower out there VS our area. |

Yes, I know Apopka schools are not so hot. I have heard that Seminole county schools are better. My husband and I are both in Education, so I doubt we would have to travel very far, well hopefully? And yes our friends who do live in Apk. have complained about traffic? But it is quieter and slower...we agree on that

Interesting...I currently live in Houston and am planning to move to Orlando. My husband has taken a job transfer out there, and he leaves Saturday morning. I have to stay and get the house sold. I have to say that you're right; the job market here is spectacular. Tons of jobs! Also, house prices are low compared to most of the country. We've been here 8 years, though, and it was time for a change. I miss the beach, as I grew up in Southern Calif.

I agree exactly with what u say.....i actually had a guy at the old store i work at trying to get me into working in real estate as a loan officer, so i tryed it and it was so slow and i didnt make any progress on the calls so i quit after a couple months knowing that the housing market sucked at that time......but there is also a Brazilian guy that i work with at the pizza delivery job in Orlando that did have a full time investment in working for real estate companies and now he is full-time working delivering pizzas because buisness is so slow at the real-estate company he was with |

QUOTE: "My home has increased in value 52% in six years"
yeahh right, and you're a Realtor right? I think it was Alan Greenspan who said (essentially): "the blame for this crisis (in Real Estate), has to be the also on Realtors who fill the Seller's heads with greed, and it is those same Realtors who take the sub-prime Buyers to the Lenders who are so willing to obligue." Bingo! finally someone spoke the truth! You try and sell your house for that 52% increase in value, and you will soon wake up from your dream darling. This "flipping houses" business was an artificial bubble and it exploded, right on the face of Realtors. I'm so happy! BOOM! hahaaaa!! Folks, it's time to RENT, this crisis in Real Estate is forecasted to last beyond 2008. Don't believe ANYTHING any Realtor tells you, they're just out for a commission, you never see them after you Sign the Loan Papers, do you? Nahh, they're gone. And by the way: it is those SAME REALTORS who are blocking companies like "For Sale By Owner" from using the MLS system. do you really think that Realtors as a whole, are acting in an ETHICAL manner? Think about this: they are blocking their competition, is that not illegal? Think. The Orlando Real Estate Crisis is ongoing until we elect a more Pro-Consumer President. I've seen this Pro-Corporation President turn his back on Americans. Everything goes up except out Salaries, and our own Congress refuses to do anything about it, but they sure hike their salaries as they please. |

Back on topic- I have a BS from a top 10 University and my girlfriend has a BA. Both graduated within the last two years. Orlando is a terrible place for a young working professional. The only jobs are low paying service industry jobs (max 11/hour). Go elsewhere if possible and dont think you are going to make it big at disney like everyone else that moves there. Jobs in Orlando will pay 1/2 to 1/3 consistently for the same job in any other city on the east coast.

Most homes around here did appreciate in value massively. Subsequently they have sunk just a little bit. So overall most are still way up over the last few years. That includes recent sales: they are still big wins for people who've owned for a while. The people who are losing big money are in foreclosures, not people selling nice homes. ores |

I just moved to Orlando from Boston a few months ago. I hate it here. My company transferred me and I have a professional job making the same as I did in Boston, so the job aspect was fine for me, but I see the way my company treats people trying to get hired. These people have degrees and years of experience and are begging for a job at my work starting at 7.50 per hour. It's a depressing place to live. People are NOT friendly like I expected. I'm in my late 20's and this is definitely not the place to move to if you are in that age group, want to have a great social life, and are career motivated. I can't wait for my one year committment at work to be finished so I can get out of here.
