Arrow Green card sponsership

Hi,
After 30 years service I retired from the Metropolitan Police in England and I am still working as a Security Officer. My eldest daughter emigrated to Orlando 2 years ago. I would also love to join her asap but she is unable to sponsor me for a green card until she has been there for 5 years.
Does anyone know of any companies that might be interested in sponsoring and employing an ex bobby.
I know some of you might think I am being a bit cheeky but I love Orlando and can't wait to get out there. Any idea's anyone!!!

as far as I know it is really difficult to get in from England unless you are a doctor or the like.

All I can think of is a security company. But would anyone go through the trouble of sponsoring someone for an H1 visa for a security job?

You can post your resume on Monster.com and see where it leads.

have you tried the yearly lottery they do for visas. You may have to go back to police or public service type jobs for them to pick you.

Visit the american embassy website click for English consulate

Thanks for the replies, Sorry to say Brits are not eligable for the lottery. I think I will have to make do with the holidays for now and will probably wait until my daughter has been in the US for 5 years. Either that or I pretend to be a doctor...!!!

Just an honest question....I know there are other cultures tha can apply for the lottery of getting a green card .......do you think it is discriminatory that they wont allow British people to get one or is there a good reason for that?.....i dont know much about British immigration so im trying to see what you think since you are trying to get over here......p.s. remember to tip the pizza driver if you do make it over here.....LOL....I only make about the minimum wage and i do get no tip from alot of Brit's....not because they are rude but because they dont know.....and i am not allowed to say that to them on deliveries......just spread the word please.....LOL......Thanx alot .....and hope things work out for you

There's a good reason for that. It's a diversity visa lottery, the USCIS is trying to bring people here whose country doesn't send a lot of immigrants to the US. If a country sends more than 50,000 immigrants over the last 5 years, its citizens cannot apply.

Hi Steve,

When your daughter has lived in the US for 5 years she can then apply for citizenship, only when she is a citizen can she sponsor you so you may be looking at a waiting time of up to 8 years.

What is your daughter's current status (and for how long)? e.g. is she an LPR or does she hold another type of visa? E.g. if she obtained LPR status through marriage then there is a reduced timeline for citizenship (3 years instead of 5).
