Just wondering what kind of area this is? I saw a good deal on a house near there, but I will be moving from Texas and don't know the area.

Hello,
I don't live too far from that intersection myself, but I believe that is considered Pine Hills area. Either way, PH doesn't have a good reputation at all. Since I don't live directly in it, I won't speak so badly on it, but there's a reason they call it Crime Hills. It's not fully "ghetto", but it at that intersection, it is the Borderline of Pine Hills and Ocoee, FL, and that's where I live. There is a trailer park, and some apartments across from them at that intersection, a check cashing place, a spanish supermarket plaza, some fast food joints, and a J-mart plaza - an indoor flea-market-like store. It's not far from the malls, banks and it's close to the Interstate and Toll roads. The homes in the area are your typical older model homes, but the area is rather tolerable I suppose. I would suggest a visit before making the move if at all possible. It's all in what you would consider nice living areas.... Hope that helps a bit =) |

I'll be upfront and say I'm biased because I'm selling a home in a nicer area near there {MODERATOR EDIT SOLICITING} That being said I drive down Silver Star once a week and it makes me sad to look at it. It is not a pretty part of town. I have noticed some good looking homes on Hiawassee near there but they tend to have gates/bars which doesn't bode well. Point being it's probably cheap for a reason but I would agree that it would be worthwhile to look for yourself all of central Fl has nice areas up against not so nice. Hope that helps.

There is a reason for the good price. It is in the ghetto.

Buying there is bad and your only asking for trouble, I know as I have lived in O-Town since 72.

I think you have had some good advise. I grew up in that area, went to Elem school, middle school and high school there. It was in the 90's so fairly recent and unfortunately everyone I lived around moved west towards Clermont, thats why I did it. I had to live with Helicopters looking for suspects and true thugs. Its known not only as Pine Hills but Crime Hills. Go west Go west Go west.
