Hi everyone,

We are looking at possibly relocating to Orlando from Las Vegas due to my wife's job. Her office would be near SeaWorld (their current offices are moving to this area and she doesn't have an address yet).

She is also looking at taking another job in Denver, so we are trying to decide which way to go. Weather is obviously different, but both have things we like/dislike about it. So that may be a wash.

Anyway, hoping you could shed some light on the Orlando area. I have seen many people mention Dr. Phillips and Winter Park (which is a further commute). The options within our price range (initially renting) look to be out of our price range for what we would like (see below). Wondering if there are other areas that fit most, if not all, the criteria below.

These are the items that are high priority for us.
  • Work commute: 30 minutes or less.
  • Good schools. We have a 3 (almost 4) year older and a 1 year old).
  • Nice home rentals (around $2k, 3+ bedroom, 2500+ square feet)
  • More of a suburban, family friendly neighborhood.
  • Very safe.
  • Sociable community.
  • Variety of restaurants, not necessarily walking distance, but a close drive.
  • Near parks would be nice, but not make or break.
Thanks for any insight on the area.

David

Dr. Phillips meets your criteria, but I do not know about rentals in that area. I would focus my search there. Also, look in the Conway area. The commute might be a little longer depending on what time you are traveling, but the rest would work for you.

Thanks. At least right now, rentals in Doctor Phillips is out of price range. I will take a look at Conway. Any feedback on Windermere?

Thanks,

David

Contact a realtor. I just took a quick look at the Dr. Phillips area on Zillow for you, and I saw several homes with 3 bedrooms, at or near your SF, for under 2k per month. (and honestly, 2000 SF is a spacious house for a 3 bedroom, depending on layout, so you might want to consider those as well.)

AT $2k, you should be able to find something. Try and get hooked up with a realtor if you can. I would recommend Dr Phillips secondary to the proximity to your wife's job and general ammenities of the area
