Default looking for houses in NE orlando

hello all (especially people who know realty):

i am looking for nice new-ish houses in the area north of 408 and east of I-4... winter park would be okay but not too much farther than that. weve just moved to orlando and were renting in another area of the city but that is what we have discovered that we need. our budget is around $220k and we have a young kid so we are trying to avoid crime. anybody live around here and have specific streets and developments so i can drive through and look.

i am going to talk to real estate agents of course but i want to start out by asking around.

please no scare mongering in this thread.

(houses in developments that are more than coral light yellow and white would be cool too... i like my houses to have some personality and maybe a nonrestrictive hoa that would let my garage be open for more than twenty minutes, LOL!!!)

so far i'm liking orlando. havent seen any really crazy driving and people are actually just as friendly as they are in nyc where i am from. plenty to do and plenty to see. not nyc of course but it's still decent.
