and still, someone has mentioned section 8 housing in the area, but nobody has told mw if the corner of 50/avalon pk boulevard ARE section 8 apartments. if they are, they are pretty nice apartments.

Thumbs down Typical

Too bad my post above was deleted. It seems opinions are ok on these forums unless they make someone feel uncomfortable - doubly so if you have facts to back them up!

My post was not off topic, was not vulgar, nor did I flame anyone. I've posted far more in-your-face opinions that were never deleted or flagged, but they were more mainstream. My opinion must have been unpopular with the mod, or it was flagged and removed without even being read.

We need less social engineers and more true moderators who protect freedom of speech and expression instead of the feelings of the weaker forum users.

NOTE: You can spare me the reposting of forum rules. I didn't break any!

What is it with people in florida wanting to belong to these bizarre gated-off subdivisions? What ever happened to living in a regular neighborhood that doesn't have some official "name?" Haven't you ever wanted to just live on a normal street?? What is the appeal of being in your little fake-exclusive country-club for your entire life?

Avalon Park and similar New Urbanist neighborhoods are not as highly income segregated, at least in theory. If you move into Avalon Park expecting all your neigbors will be upper-middle-class, well, that goes against the plan of the developement. The idea is it is NOT a gated community. If you want that, go to Stoneybrook or another place like that.

Honestly, the prejudice against Section 8 is pretty nauseating. Yes, some Section 8 renters are scumbags. But, my parents are landlords themselves and you'ld be surprised at what "respectable" renters will do to a property if they feel they can get away with it.

oresident ,
its just a matter of personal preferance...I grew up living in a "regular neighborhood on a regular street and I personaly feel the "fake-exclusive country-club " neighborhoods are nicer place to raise my kids. I think my kids feel the same way as they have also lived in "REGULAR NEIGHBORHOODS"..they prefer AVALON Park to those as well..I guess if you don't live in a" fake exclusive country club enviroment" you wouldn't understand why I like it.. if you have lived in My neighborhood and hated it then its YOUR PERSONAL Preferance NOT to live here..to each his own right
