I would never live in Orlando- that place is screaming "DISNEY WORLD". Way too touristy for me. I complain about the congestion of Miami, the crime in other places but Orlando seems to have all of the above (and to the extreme). There are places-in orlando- that we visited when my family first moved to florida that have now gone downhill with no hope of recovery. The most horrible part is that you have these 'pockets' of suburban areas or quasi-gated communities that are just steps away from the most ghetto areas you've ever seen. I just don't understand how that works.

I’m about three spaces back in line when finally one of the other slovenly employees decides to open a line in the photo section. I turn around to go to the new counter when at least a half dozen people behind me jump IN FRONT of me and get first in line at the new counter. I waited for almost 15 minutes in the first line, and about 10 minutes in the second line while some looser was arguing with the cashier about what items could and could not be purchased using her welfare card – EBT is it? Whatever – food stamp card.

While in line, some guy could not figure out how to use the “do it yourself” picture kiosk. He kept asking for help and the clerk kept saying in broken English “I no can do machine”.

Finally, after being in line for almost a half hour, I put down my gallon of milk and walked out.

Something stupid like this happens to me all the time in this god forsaken hell hole of a 3rd world we call Orlando.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coming from a meeting at the Gaylord Palms resort, my shop manager who drives a big truck was attacked by a guy who backed out of a parking space and hit his truck. That’s right. Someone hit my co-workers PARKED truck and started yelling at HIM for parking “too big of a truck in a small parking lot” – As if we had a freakin choice!

The guy took a swing – an attempt at an open palm slap – and missed. He then picked up a small stick and threw it at my co-workers truck. He kept screaming in Spanish and finally got in his car and went away.

My co-worker is stuck with about $500 worth of damage to his truck and the other guy illegally left the scene in a hurry - his PR flag hanging from the window.

If you have had these types of weird experiences in Orlando, feel free to add to this post.

I would say that's terrible ...but really i see this crap everyday here too....i also have a story to tell....i feel you on this subject...and for anyone who doesn't live here....this is what we are talking about when we refer to the attitude problems in Orlando....

i went into the Walgreens on I-Drive after work last night....It was about 4:30am.......well no one was there except me, another customer (A Brazilian Girl in her 20's), and some people who worked there that were stocking things.....

Well i looked for what i had to get and got it......then i went to the register and i noticed a worker saw me but didnt stop to come over and help.....no one was working at either register so i stood there and waited for about 2 minutes because i didnt want to seem pushy.....then I heard the manager say , "can you go up there, i think there is a customer waiting". After that i saw the worker (a chubby black girl) walking from a distance and she saw me there again as i looked at her.......well as soon as that happened i noticed the other customer walking towards where i was but she put her stuff down at the register behind me.

Well the worker went to the register where the other customer was and started to scan her items.....and the other customer saw me standing at the other register before too.....well i got pissed and layed my stuff on the register where they were at and looked at the worker as if to say that she knows she is wrong for doing that (letting someone cut in front).....the worker gave me a look like she didnt know that it was rude to let the other customer cut in front like that and like she didnt care either...and the worker never told me that she would get me at the other register and that i was waiting first so she would take me first.....none of that mattered to her.......well after that i walked really close to the other customer and she looked at me like she didnt know why i was mad laying my stuff down in front of them and looked at me like the world evolved around young Brazilian girls......after that the worker just kept scanning items

Well i walked out so pissed and even felt that there was no use in telling the manager because those kind of people work all over Orlando and the companies dont teach them how to treat the customer the right way anyways.....they just care if they can scan items so what is the use of complaining....so i just frikin left and realized that if you want anything in Orlando that manners and rules won't help you get it......if you ever wnat to get somewhere fast here just cut in front in lines at the store in traffic or anywhere because the employees and cops will never teach anyone that it is wrong and that they should wait thier turns so why should anyone else......well i will still wait my turn but im tired of getting cut in front of and seeing this happen at stores all the time and in traffic here....the employee will actually serve (i dont really mean serve i really mean do thier job because most dont know what service is) the person that cuts in front of you!!!!.......Its happened a couple times to me and im not a weak skinny guy either....and ive seen this happen alot to other people too.....Welcome to Orlando

i have really enjoyed talking spanish in the stores actually. i used to be fluent and now living in orlando i can build back up to fluency. i dont mind hearing spanish everywhere... i really dont. and for bilingual people its not a problem either because when u are bilingual it just "flips" over in your brain and you dont notice a thing.

in my entire life i have never walked into a drugstore where i did not have to wait forever because of stupid people in front of me. frankly the more people escape into gated communities and engage only in their communities there the more society gets polarized and everybody suffers and people find ghetto areas five minutes from their gated communities.

its a different world out there it will never be "white bread perfect" again. we can deal with it and try to make it better or we can ***** and moan and whine and move up to raleigh.

when i stopped in raleigh it was much the same. this is the way america is now. it always has been. up in new york we we remember when those signs with "no irish allowed" were posted up in store windows and god forbid the italians go anywehre outside of their little ghettos. same old story over and over again.

but i'm arguing on the internet now,and as we all know that is a silly thing to do.

These stories are amazing. While I haven't had an experience like this in Orlando, I did have one almost exactly like Stupid Flanders posted while on vacation in South Carolina this summer. To make it even worse, my DH had to have a prescription refilled. He called it in and when he went to pick it up the next day they told him they were out of the drug and had to order more. The order wouldn't be there for 4 days! This is a drug he has to take daily. The final result is that he ended up calling CVS stores in all the surrounding towns and finally found the drug in a store 45 miles away. He called, they told him they had it, he gave them the prescription number and we drove over. When we got there, not only did they have the whole prescription thing screwed up....we had the exact experience with customer service that Stupid Flanders did. And this was in a small town in Bennettsville, SC!!!! It is not exclusive to Orlando, folks! I was thrilled to get back to civilization when I got BACK to Orlando.

By the way, this was not some exotic drug. It is very commonly used. I can't imagine drug stores being 'out' of it.

I beg to differ about Railegh NC......backtofl has been there and i think he lived there and said how much of a different world it is up there.......have you lived there?.......And i compare attitudes by having lived in Nashville and Orlando and its definatley a totaly different world...in Nashville people wait until its thier turn at most all of the 4-way stops....and no one honks at the guy in front when he doesnt go the split second that the person behind him thinks its going to change to green....trust me ......what area of Orlando do you live in?...Im just curious

Sounds like some white trash people working there in that town....of coarse i did have some bad things happen in Nashville and things like your story happens anywhere there are azzholes.....i just think Orlando (the actual city of) has a weird attitude in the air like everyone thinks that thier needs are first and foremost and people overall are rude in the whole area at a very high rate compared to alot of places .......

the driving is the same way....nobody cares here ....ive seen hit-n- runs where there was only one party waiting for the cops and the whole back end of the person's car was tore up....where was the other person...he took off and i have seen that more than once here....remember i deliver pizza so i am on the road alot more than most people and trust me the amount of inccedents that the average person sees driving out here...i see about 10 times as many in the same day....i have seen so many road rage inncedents and accident scenes in Orlando....and even when i wasnt ever a pizza driver the first few years i was here i still saw a high number of incedents in traffic compared to Nashville and California and i can even say that it might even be worse than Miami and i lived there to...

i just hope no one thinks im talking negative here because im just responding on "this" subject....i actually posted about some nice things that a lady with her kids can do in Orlando a post or 2 ago....i do post positive things to but when these kind of posts come up i just have seen alot of crap happen and thats what i talk about

No problems....thaspecial.....it's just that I've encountered rude people all over the country. Orlando has no exclusivity to that claim.

I agree that Orlando does not have an "exclusive" on rude people. I just think it is maxed out here. There seems to be no sense of community. I know there's rude people everywhere, and I'm not looking for the proverbial "white bread" community...my Spanish wife isnt looking for that either...

For me it's not about race. It's about class and education. Again, I'll go back to the economy of Orlando. I think it draws the dregs ofs ociety from ALL races. That's the real problem for me here!

I think the fix is quite simple and works in most modernized parts of the world.

Let your money talk. If you get bad service somewhere, tell the manager. If you go back and get bad service a second time, don't return to that place. It's just that simple. When businesses start to lose money they take notice.
