Take a road trip...leave Orlando and visit cities like Williston, Chiefland, Bronson, Waldo, Old Town, Fanning Springs, ect... (there are too many to mention) and I think you will see a whole different Florida! We still believe in God, family and community out here....Orlando is NOT a good description of Florida, you are absolutely correct it is JUST an extension of the North...well it's not fair to just blame the north, Orlando has many different kinds of "people" there and most are not natives!

Youre right man....i lived up in the Lake City area as a kid...and people around there say "yes sir" and "yes maam"...its like you said....but the reason that natives of Orlando are talking like this is because it used to be like that here not so many years ago and that kind of way of life is fading fast here and natives are just realizing that it will never be the same like that again and its frustrating to them......there is just alot of bad influences from the up north cities that come here to prove something it seems and as they do that they ruin it for the good northerners because they all get put into categories of being rude just because there are alot here that are not willing to live at a slower pace and assimilate to how Orlando was before..they just make it like the only thing they feel comfortable with and that is where they used to live......so there is an influence of culture from the north in Orlando and Miami and there are great people and nice people ive met from there in Orlando too....but those people that fly those PR flags without putting the U.S. flag next to it and the people who litter and have a NY sticker on thier car are making thier area look bad.....native Floridians do these things too but i am telling you there are a far less number doing them as Floridians ...i remeber in the culture growing up in Old Florida when we would get paddled at school back in the 80's ....my girlfriend from Long Island said they didnt do that up there when she was growing up.....Don't get it twisted ....when i say northerners i am not refering to those that speak with regular english....the ones that i dont like and the one s that are ruining Orlando are the ones that even good northerners hate....and that is the people that will say phrases like "yo kid, where you get dose kicks son?"....or "mi boriqua is da best baby?"...or if they say "one" at the end of a regular sentence then that is who im speaking about....some of the older people might not get this but ill fill you in later

Hey Yoooooooo...

Funny. Today's youth is a disaster, just about everywhere. They go through cycles.

When I was "younger", I was a hippie, although not really because I didn't do drugs, my hair was clean, etc. but because I wore things with fringes and mini-skirts, and headbands, and bell bottom jeans from the Army & Navy store, and lived in the Village....... I was thrown into the bunch of those no good, stoned, parasites of society.

I didn't really care. I knew who I was and my principles and morals. Still do.

Unfortunately, kids are too susceptible to peer pressure and they can become something they are not when left on their own. I blame the parents who have no control and don't exercise parental authority. Then again, some of these parents don't know any better because THEY had no oversight either. Some of these parents are those same YO teens who are ruining theirs and everyone's lives around them.

It cracks me up how posters blame "godless people" or "today's teens" for ruining America. Gee, we had years and years of being led by the "religious and righteous". We now have record debt, record violent crime, poor schools, a health care system teetering on the brink, a worthless American dollar, and a bankrupt financial future.

But yeah, its those darn teens and godless northerners who have ruined everything!

Honestly, some of you folks will remain clueless your entire lives. It is both comical and pathetic at the same time.

And who put all those people in power? And who is running their kids' lives? And who do we expect to make everything perfect? There are many other pathetic beings who want to take no responsibility for their actions and like to blame anybody but themselves.

I may be clueless but I would have knocked the air out of my son if he tried to wear pants with crotches down to his knees, or have gold teeth, or body piercing all over his face.

it's sad we have to try and guess where the rude ppl are going to move to so we can avoid it. if i ever move back to nc/sc, and it gets all the ny/nj/pr folks, i'm leaving again. it's a shame we are running from others like this, but look what happened to most of fla. it's like ny/nj/san juan, pr now. all fleeing to fla turning fla into what they were escaping. lucky us native floridians huh?

I think I would save the energy of moving back and forth. There are still lots of nice places right here in Florida you could consider. From what I have seen and heard about NC, TN, GA (from CD's State Forums), they're not all we think or hope they would be.

Lots of growing pains and changes going on there too.

vpcats, i have lived in both fla and nc. i like fla better. i was born in this state and i defend it. BUT, there comes a point when you (not you literally) run outta excuses. nc offers a better quality of life. overall.
