Cool Mr Sopbabe here

Mr sopbabe here - Just to update on wifeys post - I worked at LM for 2 years previous. Lived in cheap condo in Dr. Phillips during the week and then drove back to Venice on weekends. I went back to Venice- Sarasota area but was concerned about my job future and LM gives me that. My wife can transfer to Orlando. I am familiar with Dr. Phillips area and apopka vineland rd. - have found some very good and affordable neighborhoods especially with the short sales. I also like Williamsburg. I have seen some good stuff south end of OBT between OBT and Orange.

Having talked to fellow workers I would not go north of Orlando only because of traffic and I-4. (Seminole county, Maitland, Cassleberry, lake Mary etc. ). I am also familiar with parts of Kissimmee- Poinciana and not for me. I have some co workers from St Cloud and that looks ok in some areas.

We took a drive to Monteverde and Clermont and found some good stuff up there and only a 30 min drive plus tolls to work.

We have lived in Venice - Sarasota area since 2005 but have found that:

a) Sarasota area can also be tough to get a job but we were both fortunate in our professions. Most of the good jobs are on the other side of Tampa Bay which is 70 mile drive. Don't want to move up there.

b) We have found being full time residents of a snow bird area can be desolate. I never thought that I would say it but I am a little home sick for Boston area and NH. I had a business in Ft. Myers and one retired customer of mine said " we are only here for the weather - there isn't anything else". I think of that quote a lot when I talk to family and friends back north. even though we have the beaches, arts and good weather it is hard to match that to good friends and family.

So we press on with our Florida adventure to see if we can find happiness.

Well as someone who's lived in Ft. Myers and Orlando I can say that Orlando is not nearly impacted by snow birds, they're really aren't many here at all. Our season here is more about tourists but unless you work directly in that industry you won't notice that either. If you have enjoyed your time here in Orlando so far it's likely only going to get better with your wife here. Life is always better experienced with another.

Does he work at the Sand Lake or Lake Underhill location? Vastly different neighborhoods to be looking at.
