Ya, at this point I really think Disney is getting away with highway robbery. There's no way we would stay if we weren't DVC members. I think the avg room hovers around $500/night.

It depends on what type of experience you are looking for, the Grand Floridian is a luxury hotel and is considered a "Deluxe Resort" by Disney (highest tier level) so it certainly up there in terms of prestige and quality, which obviously comes with a hefty price tag.. This applies to any Disney Deluxe Resort though, not just the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Polynesian, Yacht & Beach Club, etc are all Deluxe Resorts, they are all unique in their own ways, offer similar amenities, and price ranges are about the same, the main difference is that the Grand Floridian clearly defines itself as a grandly luxury hotel with its very elegant Victorian-era theme, it is also the go-to hotel for celebrities and high profile VIPs when visiting Disney. If you can afford it I would say go for it, just keep in mind, that there are many comparable deluxe resorts at Disney that are also worth looking into..

Also another note, you do not have to spend an arm and a leg to stay on Disney property, the moderate and value resorts offer affordable rates and are on-property with access to all the Disney amenities and transportation, the main difference is of course you get what you pay for..

Keep going! The cheapest rooms during low season are at about $500. We were considering staying there for our anniversary after V&A's, and decided for the cost of the room and chef's table there, we can go for a long weekend and eat at an equally nice restaurant elsewhere.
