Default What is Dr. Phillips area?

I have seen this mentioned in posts and also have noticed some awesome rentals that mention it is in the Dr. Phillips area. Can someone explain this some more?

Its a suburb in Orlando near Universal Studios. It is an affluent area but a little less "well to do" than it's neighbor Windermere. It used to have one of the best reputations in Central Florida for families to live but it has gone done a bit in the last few years.

Dr. Phillips High School is a great school and has produced many pro athletes and Joey Fatone and Wayne Brady. (Isn't ironic that they are both doing Karaoke Shows???!)

Here is link to its Wiki Page:Doctor Phillips, Florida - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hope this helps!

The Dr. Phillips area is a suburb that runs from 535 & Apopka Vineland Rd. to about Apopka Vineland & Conroy Windermere Rd. People like Dr. Phillips because the schools are good and its proximity to restaurant row. Some of the more well known subdivisions in Dr. Phillips include: Kensington Park, Phillips Landing, Cypress Point, Brentwood Club, Bay Hill, Torey Pines, and Turtle Creek.

Some well known residents in the area include: Payne Stewart, Frank Viola, Arnold Palmer, Lee Jansen, Scott Hoch, Johnny Damon, Se Ri Pak, Charles Howell, Nick Anderson, Tracy McGrady, etc. (lots of pro golfers)

I believe the allure is that it's much closer to everything than neighboring Windermere where Isleworth is located. Isleworth is home to a bunch of celebrities.

Here's also a post on who in the world Dr. Phillips is.

Thanks so much for the info. Is it safe to assume a rental in that area would be a good family friendly place?
