I think you need to do a few things...
First I would evaluate myself from head to toe appearance, posture, attitude, resume, etc. Practice interviewing with someone who knows what to expect. Do you have unusual piercings or anything else that might not be considered a "professional appearance"? Get other people's (in professional positions) opinions including recruiters. Also, don't epect them to call you. You should contact them-immediately send a thank you note (just basic stuff) then call a few days or a week later and reiterate what you said in the note (why you would be the best person for the job). If you don't know why, don't expect him/her to know. Even if you do not want the job after the interview, send a thank you anyway because you never know whether or not you might want it next week. Also getting any offer is better than getting no offer because it will help your self esteem. You can always say you are considering another position but you will let them know if anything changes
Now, I know you are down but you don't want to show them that...lose the "*********" attitude, especially because you were excited about that job. call the interviewer and ask to meet with him to discuss what could/needs to be done to speed up the process. If he still blows you off, then move on but be nice so you keep the door open for the future. Nothing good ever comes out of ending a discussion negatively. Does not do much for your self esteem either. Hope this helps
