For various reasons it has never done well. I believe it was purchased by an investment group a little while ago and they have lined up some new tenants and are even going to redo the concept to make it more of an "open air" mall. I remember reading about it in the Orlando Sentinel a little while ago but just can not remember more.

I've visited there only for its movie theater. It has potential, but the Prime and Premium Outlets and the Mall of Millenia steal all of the attention. And deservedly so.

It never was a thriving mall, hopefully someone can turn it around.

The problem was that they opened at the wrong time. In 2002, the year the mall opened, the Mall at Millenia opened (1.2 million square feet), The Florida mall added Nordstrom and Macy's, and 300,000 square feet of retail stores, and expanded Dillard's, and the Orlando Premium Outlets also opened. That is around 2.4 million square feet of retail space, which isn't even including Festival Bay.

It's complicated to get to, there were never really any decent stores there, and frankly this area has more mall's and shopping than the Real housewives can handle.

Skate park gone- surf park never came to be, seems like a great indoor attraction space, but even those couldn't make it. : \

Festival Bay seemed like a nice place at one point. Though it never really appealed to me. I've gone with friends to the movies there a couple times, but Pointe Orlando and The Loop are closer.

I'm not surprised it never did well

Just saw this:

News Distribution Network - Shared Video

Festival Bay plans $70M artists' marketplace

Festival Bay, already Orlando's most unusual mall, is about to become something unique to Central Florida.

Hopefully they will have less creepier ways to get to the restroom. That's one thing I remember about that mall.
