for those who live in 32828
if you live in this area, is crime a concern? a house was broken into a few streets over and it just seems like things are coming over this way. anyone else want to comment?

I've lived here almost a year and have only heard of a few small vandalisms like throwing chairs into the pools. I haven't heard about the break in, but I do know that I am scared to death every day I pull out onto Alafaya. Not exaggerating, but I must be cut off or almost run off the road every day. And I do the speed limit of 55.
But some friends in Avalon say they see more and more loud parties with the college students, but nothing to be weary of NOW - who knows in the future? I lived in Waterford six years ago and I must say I was disappointed to see how some parts became run down in such a short time.

ambi007, i live in that area too. i am disappointed overall, and would like to move, out of orlando. the driving here, like u mentioned, is terrible. i have a story for my wife almost everyday i go out on the roads... being cut-off, running of red light i see constantly, etc...
i want out of orlando, just based on the driving. but a few other factors certanily dont help, and overall, makes for an undesirable place to live. this is just my opinion.

If you're in 32828, expect crime to increase as homes stay empty and more are foreclosed.

I don't know... I don't see it. I live in 32828, in a development called Eastwood. Every day and night I see runners, roller bladers, parents walking kids in strollers, people walking their dogs with no thieves, thugs, or gangs lurking anywhere. I shop at the all local businesses including the Town Center and have never seen or had any problems myself. I drive to work by UCF and have not seen anything out of the ordinary with the exception of an idiot driver and red light runner almost daily.
I have heard of random crime between the Waterford Lakes and Avalon Park areas over the past few years, with a few being serious. I have to consider that there are thousands upon thousands of people living in this area and there is no place on earth free of crime. I feel very safe in my area but always aware of my surroundings.

a few serious? how serious beenaroundtheblock?
the only thing i know about, after living in this area of orlando for the last 10 months, are the constant red light runners, the accidents out here daily (which amazes me that there would be all these accidents when speed limits are low), a few break-ins (residential and buisness) which happens a lot it seems, an armed robbery at mcdonalds on the corner, etc... and a dead body found in the town center pond there. the cause i am not sure though. i dont know if it ever said the cause.

Serious being the armed robberies you mention and a few other home evasions I have heard of that took place over the past few years.
