Hello all,

Looking for new construction that will offer in/law suite/retreat either detached or with a separate entrance. Budget is approximately $300,000+- Would prefer north west or southeast of Orlando. Looked at David Weekly constructed homes in Harmony and they fit the bill but they are no longer building their and Lennar isn't offering this type in their models at this point.

Any help would be appreciated,

Jeff

You could look for builders that offer second master suites, usually as an option. You just don't want the two suites stacked on top of each other, for privacy reasons.

Or there's the in-law suite over the garage option, which would be ideal if they offer a detached garage *and* if the in-laws can manage stairs.

Your best bet may be looking at pre-owned homes that already have been adapted for this purpose.

I know David Weekly and the other builders in Laureate Park are building homes with apartments above the garages in Lake Nona.

Also, Lennar has the "next-gen home" line, but I don't think they offer it in every place they build. I believe they have it in their North Point models in Southeast Orlando area.

I've looked at the 'next-gen' homes and they just seem weird...maybe because I'm not used to the idea yet.

There's also the 'granny pod' idea but I think most HOA's would have a problem with it!
