What about St. Cloud?
Looking to relocate to Orlando - we are a young family. I need to be close to MCO for work but need community for my family that is safe, has good schools. ITs important to us that there are lots of young active families outside with alot going on? Any thoughts on St. Cloud?

I would look into the Narcoossee area of St. Cloud. There is a lot of nice developments, the schools are pretty good, its safe and its close to the Airport. Good luck!

I, too, think St. Cloud would be a good fit. I grew up there and thought it was everything a young family could ask for. Harmony from what I hear is very pleasing to everyone who lives there, so check it out, too.
Good luck

stay away from st cloud
we moved here in 2004 to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. It was nice for about a year. St. Cloud has gone down, the building is out of control and the majority of residents are hispanic. I, for one, can't wait to get OUT of St. Cloud

I live in St. Cloud area and have for 10 years, it is growing like everywhere in Florida but it is still a very nice place to live, great location, less than an hour to beaches, near attractions and Orlando, I like it. Yes, there are more hispanic's moving to the area but it is a nice blend IMO, the hispanic population is growing everywhere and the schools around here are doing a good job preparing these kids for living in a multicultural community.

I agree. We moved there for the same reason you did 2 years ago and left for the same reason you want to last year.

As far as schools go, Florida's never been high on the list for having great education(compared to the other states). My son did his last year at the high school here in St Cloud and couldn't stand it.
He hated that it seemed like the majority of teens smoke and party, and act like gang wannabes. He never did make many friends there. He likes college a little better. Different type of people.....

I agree--try east of St. Cloud--Lake Nona, etc. And, away from the tourist traffic if you are going to become a local resident.
