I have a 2000sq with 14 x 28 pool and the fillter runs for 8 hours everyday
our bill usually runs about $270 in the summer and about $200 give or take in the winter...
we keep our ac at 80 when we are home and about 84 when we are not
believe it or not i FREEZE when its at 80 our whole house ( with the exception of two bedrooms) is tiled so that keeps it cool too..

My parents power bill runs 350-500 dollars a month in the summer. It is a modern 2 story with high ceilings. The air conditioner runs at about 74-75 in the summer (in the "non-summer" it runs at about 75-76), and we only have to use the heater a few months in the winter. It is a difficult house to keep everything comfortable. Honestly my parents are thinking of moving and getting a smaller house eventually, after we part with junk. Move to some place that allows more sensible housing designs and allows solar panels and other things like that. The cooling costs aren't making them poor but it is an extra expense.

Our other house in Tampa is only about 250 a month and stays relatively cool and is easy to air-condition.

We run a dehumidifier all the time set to 50 percent humidity just to keep down mold, which can be a problem in some Florida houses. Mold destroyed some of our carpetting, and that's when I suggested we get a dehumidifier about 2 years ago. On the plus side, you can turn the air conditioner up a few degrees and it does make things a little more comfortable.
