so all felons that have served their time and want to contribute to society should be denied jobs and a chance to do so?

YES, when it comes to working with our children, it does mean that they should not be allowed any job there, not even sweeping the floors, driving the bus, mowing the lawn AND certainly not as a teacher.

Why do we even let felons out of prison? It is quite obvious that no one thinks that they could possibly be rehabilitated, so why doesn't everyone just pay a few extra thousand dollars every year to keep these felons locked up for the rest of their lives. Nevermind that someone may have made a mistake when they were young, say 18 years old, served time in prison, and have since ammended their ways and gone on to get 3 degrees, they messed up and let us never give them a chance to prove that they are really worth something. That they could actually benefit our society and perhaps by working with children, particularly adolescents, see kids going down the same path that they were and want to help them in the right direction. No, no felon could do that. Let's just keep them locked up forever, then they could never hurt us, or help us.
I was put in prison and served 3 years, from when I was 18 until I turned 21, and if that wasn't traumatic enough, now I have a hard time finding a job. I can never vote again or own a weapon. But I am almost finished with my bachelors in psychology and philosophy, at which point I will be going for my doctorate in counseling. I don't know why people are so apprehensive about felons, there are people who went the wrong way in life, but about half change, one quarter try to change but cant because this society is so unforgiving, and the other quarter are people who wont learn from their mistakes. Sure child molesters should not be around children because they obviously have urges that they might not be able to suppress, but as for the rest of us, will you condemn us from our desire to help people to make up for the damage we have caused?

I understand that there are A lot of concerns about A convicted felon in the work force period, however, people can change.A lot of decisions we make as teenagers and as young adults can affect our futures,we sometimes don't realize it until we have already been down the wrong road.I am A 26 year old female mother of two beautiful little girls and am just now starting my first year of college,I was a straight a student in high school and was Miss Teen Alabama,I now am a convicted felon and hope and pray to God that I don't run into people who think that because I am a felon that I don't deserve to have a professional job to better myself or to better the future for my children. There are some cases where I wouldn't want certain individuals to work around anyone especially children but there are also some cases where I feel like it would be o.k. We have all done illegal things some of us got caught and some of us didn't.Should we be so quick to judge?
