Down here in Sunrise for like at least 2 weeks after they opened you basically couldn't park at the store, you had to go park at the Bank Atlantic Center( where the Florida Panthers play hockey) and grab one of what appeared to be dozens of free trolleys that where running continuously back and forth from IKEA to the Bank Atlantic Center parking lot.If that isn't crazy enough I waited in an hour long line in their restaurant to eat those Swedish meatballs, which except for the sauce that they put over them pretty much tasted like American meatballs to me,but they were pretty good.

Ikea doesn't just sell furniture. They seem to sell everything for the home (i.e., complete kitchen remodels, textiles, toys, dinnerware, glasses, rugs, lamps, pictures, and tons little food items such as their meatballs, sauce, chocolates, nick nacky things and more). Ikeas are massive and can take hours to browse the entire store. I've yet to see everything in an Ikea because it gets overwhelming. I will say that some of their items are not the best quality, but you do get what you pay for, right?

And again, if you think going on a weekday morning will be nice and quiet, it won't be! This mega store just opened with extreme hype and is the only one within however many miles. It's going to be packed for quite some time. I'm telling you, our Ikea in Arizona was packed still a year after it opened. There are no quiet days at Ikea!

Was there and it was pretty damn awesome, just like any other Ikea. The crowd will never die down on the weekends, never. Stores that have been open for years still gets a steady stream of people non stop during weekends. Parking shouldn't be so bad after the holidays though. But it's not just a 'furniture' store, it's really a home store, completely kids friendly. One can spend hours there, repeatedly, and aways find something interesting.
They change the showrooms around every few months or so to keep it fresh. You can check out their complete annual catalog online at ikea.com
Oh and they'll have Christmas decorations too.

However, it's really a love it or hate it kind of store. If it's not your kind of decor, don't be hatin, just don't go there.

For the locals, best time to go is during weekdays. Weekends probably when they open and late evening.

Eventually the novelty will wear off. I grew up in Virginia and the Ikea store there opened almost 20 years ago. I remember how everyone was infatuated with it and it was always busy. Now, my brother tells me their parking lot is always empty and he never hears anyone talk about the place anymore unless they are buying furniture for their kid's dorm room. Apparently, up there, people are currently in love with Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, and Restoration Hardware. Trends come and go. Although, as I recall, Ikea had pretty good lingonberry pancakes.
