I'm going to be honest with you. Your right, it's true. Armed robbery in a tourist area isn't fun, and it shouldn't be happening regularly. However, are tourists being held up walking down I-Drive? Every time I walk outside I am risking a robbery. My neighborhood (and surrounding ones) hasn't even had petty theft in a few years. Doesn't mean I'm not risking it, it really can and does happen anywhere. A couple weeks ago in a very middle-class neighborhood in Davie which is typically near-nothing when it comes to crime (maybe infrequent break-ins or stuff of that nature),had a guy walking around with a gun pointing it at the cops. His neighbors said he was typically a nice and friendly guy, but the guy just became suicidal and flipped out because of a divorce. Point being, yes, crime can happen anywhere. Around the country, a town of 100,00 should average about 190 armed robberies per 100,000, meaning they are quite a common occurrence, more than you would like to think. In Orlando, there are often several a day, so obviously the crime problem is a lot worse in Orlando than other areas. But yes, in Orlando, this stuff happens it a very high rate, although it does happen "everywhere".
