Maybe there need to be much tougher penalties for crimes committed with guns. Perhaps life in prison with no chance for parole?

I'm going to be honest with you. Your right, it's true. Armed robbery in a tourist area isn't fun, and it shouldn't be happening regularly. However, are tourists being held up walking down I-Drive? Every time I walk outside I am risking a robbery. My neighborhood (and surrounding ones) hasn't even had petty theft in a few years. Doesn't mean I'm not risking it, it really can and does happen anywhere. A couple weeks ago in a very middle-class neighborhood in Davie which is typically near-nothing when it comes to crime (maybe infrequent break-ins or stuff of that nature),had a guy walking around with a gun pointing it at the cops. His neighbors said he was typically a nice and friendly guy, but the guy just became suicidal and flipped out because of a divorce. Point being, yes, crime can happen anywhere. Around the country, a town of 100,00 should average about 190 armed robberies per 100,000, meaning they are quite a common occurrence, more than you would like to think. In Orlando, there are often several a day, so obviously the crime problem is a lot worse in Orlando than other areas. But yes, in Orlando, this stuff happens it a very high rate, although it does happen "everywhere".

Just watch this video......and listen to this English tourist......are people misleading others on this site by saying things happen everywhere?

Tourist, I-Drive Wendy's Robbed At Gunpoint - Orlando News Story - WKMG Orlando

It's not a terrible story but the video is the reason why i like to inform outsiders of things they might not expect....what do you think?....should i still give in and say it is "safe" in Orlando for anyone that comes from anywhere?

No for sure ....in England they don't have AK 47 , they only just have kamykazes on London metro and on the bus, really safe no ?

I don't speak spanish ..Im sorry......If your gonna say something in a personal way to prove your opinions are superior to my opinions, at least spell it right?LOL...anyways....Tourists are a big target everywhere but how often do you hear of someone pulling up to a tourist in Manhatten and pointing an AK-47 at him and demanding all of his money?

No Orlando isnt the worst place in the world but some things happen here at a higher rate that you wouldnt see in other places.......To make my point ..im not saying that Camden NJ, or Detroit MI, or St. Louis are safe compared to Orlando .....I am saying that places like Knoxville Tennesse ...Greenich CT....Des Moines IA....Sacremento CA.....and 100's of other places dont see as many people getting shot at gas stations while just pumping gas at the rate of Orlando...and being the number one tourist destination in the U.S. we shouldnt be seeing people getting shot on the corner where Wet-n-Wild is or other people having AK's being pulled on them while walking in the place where most tourists and families go on I-Drive.....this kinda stuff is normal in Pine Hills but if you are saying that all the major tourists strips in the world have this stuff happening as much as Orlando then i think your not being truthfull to people that think I-drive is as safe as the brochure makes it look

I-Drive is unfortunately having some issues. I wonder if ppl will start to stay away from Orlando if they hear about this stuff.
