When I get annoyed at traffic here, I just remember when I commuted to DC from Northern Virginia. That commute makes ours a cinch!

Well I have contributed the I-4 experience pics here from a normal trip to Longwood from Universal Blvd and back....maybe some other people can post other pics of Orlando in this thread too....like maybe post pics of your trip to a Magic game and take shots of the arena and the surrounding area of the arena and your trip home ....or maybe someone can get some pics out by UCF or something.....I basically wanted to visualze to outsiders how the normal trip on I-4 is in rush hour here so they can "see" what it looks like....it may have been the day before Thanksgiving but the flow of traffic was just as heavy as a normal day at rush hour .....only difference is that a normal day from 3pm-7pm looks like my pics, and on the pics i posted the traffic started around 1pm-1:30pm.....that day it I went to the doctors office in Longwood from I-Drive and it took about an hour to get there and after we started heading back it took around an hour to get back home ....and when i traveled to and from school which was from Deltona to Millenia Blvd back when i was in school it usually took anywhere from 50 minutes - 1:20 minutes

Well I plan on putting another set of pics up of another Orlando experience and if people dont like these then put up some of your own

When I teach a Friday night class at DeVry, I leave Longwood by 4:30 to beat the traffic. It's normally a 20 minute drive, at 4:30, it's about 35 minutes. If I leave at 5, I may make it or not.

Rush hour in any major city is the same, however.

Traffic? Yeah...but no where near as bad as Boston. Try driving down 128 during a rush hour. It took me an hour to drive 5 miles down the road. I literally could have walked faster than I drove. I have driven down that stretch of I4 on my way to the Daytona 500. The traffic was heavy but was moving. I was at least doing the speed limit until I got into Daytona. I got to say I like the 70MPH speed limits Florida has too.

Nice pictures, guess they show a typical day in Orlando. How are the surrounding areas. Don't know much about Florida. Only Disney World. Dh has given me a time limit of 1 year to pick some place where we can retire. Presently live in Jersey. No way we can stay here. <lol> Besides I've only been here 10 years, originally from New York area. Kids would probably follow me, so there is nothing holding me here.

Thank goodness these aren't normal days for my life in Orlando! Over here in East Orlando/Waterford Lakes there are beautiful new homes, nice new shopping centers and beautifully landscaped roads leading into my neighborhood. Oh we get traffic around rush hour times but who doesn't. Hundreds of thousands of people do have to go to work. I've also left Waterford Lakes at 5:00 pm to head down to the attraction areas without any stop and go traffic. I think traffic is bad in certain areas of Orlando but in comparison to other major cities, it's not as bad. Probably the worst factor is car crashes from crazy drivers who weave in and out of traffic. Their antics causes most of the delays. Even the radio stations report.... "let's get the latest wreck check".
