Hi Guys ,
I'm moving to Orlando, by end of this month and wanted to know if Winter Haven is a good neighborhood to settle down. If not, I am looking for apts rentals around Lake Wales? Any Suggestions are welcome.. |

Stay out of florida, crime is really bad, if you teens have issues, they will only get worse with the bad influence already here.

Make sure you have a good job before you come.

The Winter Haven/ Lake Wales area is closer to Lakeland, not Orlando. These towns are in Polk county. Orlando is Orange county. I have a sister in Lake Wales. Crime isn't that bad and she loves it there. If you need a job, don't go there without one lined up. If you decide on Orlando, there are areas you don't want to be, such as Pines Hills area. You can search this forum because there has been plenty said about the bad areas to live. You may want to consider Seminole or Lake Counties.

Winterhaven is boring. Lakeland is boring. I lived in Orlando (Metrowest) for 7 years. Crime has gotten worse, especially downtown since the theme parks opened their citywalks and faux downtowns. Stay away from "Pine Hills," also known as "Crime Hills." East of downtown Orlando is VERY trendy and expensive. West of Downtown (Parramore area) is only a great place if you're planning on being a crack addict. Those are the main two areas to steeer clear of. Everything else is low income up to upper middle class for the most part.

Winter Haven / Lakeland areas will probably be a culture shock...i always feel like i am in hickville out there in those towns.....I think that you should check into moving closer towards Tampa suburbs so you can get to things if needed...i went to Lakeland the other day and it was a good trip because i played some paintball but the town seems kind of dead....there is a mall there but its a really slow paced area over there....but dont get fooled by my words because i am not saying its the safest area or worst either...there were some rough looking spots in that area as well...but i dont think the crime is near as bad as it is in Orlando

If you are ready to leave the NY lifestyle. Lake Wales might be good, or Winter Haven, but by all means, it aint gonna be anything like NY, and hopefully you want that change. Cause it's different!!!

There are tons of New Yorkers down here in WInter Haven. I am from Philly and always meet people from up in that region. I like it here! Houses are cheap, you can live well if you have a brain. I have lived in Philly, San Diego and here is were i settled. By the way it is like 78 today! happy new year....LOL
DO it but check the area's Moderator cut: email address Last edited by Keeper; 12-31-2007 at 05:16 PM. Reason: sorry you can't put in realtor's email.. |
