I am looking to live between Tampa and Orlando. Between my family, our jobs will take us to Orlando and Tampa for working. We need something in between, that will not be so bad. I am looking for area with good schools, near shopping and major highways. Yet I am looking for low crime area. I want our traveling time to be 1 hour or less in either direction. Can anyone provide any input on this?

Auburndale is the 1/2 point. Its only 11 miles east of Lakeland though and in comparison is a very small town.

For all practical purposes, Lakeland is the 1/2 point between Orlando and Tampa.

Agree that Lakeland is the closest "named" point.

And in 20 years, it will be in the middle of one big traffic clog between Orlando and tampa

Yep. I heard it years ago that the area between Orlando and Tamoa is going to be one big megatropolis. Surely it will be in the future as the growth rate continues.

The same thing is happening on the other side of the I-4 corridor too.... it's a rough stretch from Daytona to Orlando at times.

Nothing worth living in. Stick to either Orlando or Tampa.
