For those people having difficulties getting a job, Universal Studios and Home Depot are going to be hiring thousands of people in the Orlando, Florida area. There is a tremendous amount of building going on here, everywhere....for $165,000 you can get a 4 four-bedroom house with a pool, and three baths, in a decent area, or you can get the same house for rent for $1,200.

Kyle you know that we butt heads a lot but the rate of pay versus cost of living is something I have to agree with you on. Even the jobs that are considered "better paying" pay much less than in other cities

I'm still on the hunt for a 2nd job myself, and if I do get one, I STILL will not be able to afford my own apartment. Perhaps getting rid of my car payment would help, but what's the sense in having two jobs if I can not get to them?

As much as I enjoy living here, the cost of living versus wages is my biggest complaint about living here.

Orlando, the city of $9 an hour jobs and $900 dollar one bedroom apartments

This is not a personal attack in any way, but I'm always surprised about how many people (not necessarily anyone on this thread or even this forum) complain about the number of low paying jobs when all they qualify for is a low paying job. There is no such thing as a high paying job for an entry level employee.

Universal has stated that the majority of the new jobs they are bringing are executive and managerial positions. Whether or not you believe there statement is probably for another thread.

I earn $10 an hour at my current job. My previous one paid $14 an hour, but I was laid off from that one. My work experience is pretty much retail and customer service, not the best paying field unless you're in management, which is where I plan to be one day.

However I'm still young and still building my work skills and career and I don't feel entitled to earn $50k+ a year. But I do think there should be some more affordable apartments to rent in this town than what is currently available
