Some of the cleanest air in the country is on the coast about an hour from Orlando. Check out Merritt Island which has reasonably priced housing (around 150K) and is a decent area overall. If you want to be closer to Orlando in a safer, desirable area (also around 150K) check out the older areas of Longwood, Altamonte Springs and Lake Mary.

Clermont is 20-30 minutes form Orlando (west of Orlando) and the houses are definitely cheaper. I think Lakeland is too far and too in the middle of nowhere.

Being in the interior of the state of FL would not be good, on account of the allergens.

The closer you get to the ocean, gulf, the better the breathing conditions. (Like within 5 miles)

I have lived in Winston-Salem NC and had some allergies. Orlando is worse.
