QUOTE=d5001;2332620I guess I'm just wondering if someone would agree with the
statement: working in Orlando is less stressful and more laid back than working in L.A? Just a thought...
I guess I would have to agree with that. I work the same hours as I did in L.A. My salary is a bit less as it was in L.A but as the cost of living is lower in Orlando my net income is actually the same to a bit higher than what it was in L.A. Which I am really happy about. In L.A it just seemed that everyone was so busy with work that there is no time to have a social life. Here in Orlando I am still working with the same targets and the same 10 hour days, however it just seems people are more relaxed. Like they realize you also have a life outside of work. And I am actually able to meet up with friends again and go out to dinner. In L.A everything was rushed. What also got me in L.A was the commute to and from work. There's always traffic in L.A. 9 miles would take me 45-50 minutes on the city streets and 90 minutes on the highway. And that would be an every day thing. But these are just my personal experiences. |

To answer your work environment question I would summarize it up like this......
Orlando is competitive but not cut throat. You will likely still end up working long hours but maybe not at such a torrid pace. Just like anywhere else, you have to hustle here to get ahead. But one thing you may find is that Orlando is more family oriented so a job here may be more encouraging of taking time off for the family or yourself. Also, although it's not as truly southern as some other cities, this still is the south and we take our leisure time here seriously. Hope that helps. |
