Call the newspaper and TV stations and let them know what happened to you. They love stories like this and you may get some help.

Call 211 on any phone. It is a free call and will give you a list of all help available (emergency food, shelter, etc.) in Orange and Seminole County. Call area churches. All the shelters will be full this time of your. If you are in Seminole County, go to the Sharing Center located on highway 17-92 just past the intersecion of 17-92 and 434 on the right if you are driving north. They can give emergency food and funds for lodging. They turn no one away. Go there before 1 pm. They also have a free medical center. Their location is 600 North Hwy 17-92, Longwood 32750. Their phone number is 407-260-9155. They can help.

Opps. Correction. The Sharing Center is on the LEFT after the intersection of 434. It is in the Fairmont plaza. They are a great group. I was a volunteer for a long while before I moved recently.

Just a few questions. How are you getting around? I'm assuming you all came in 1 car since your luggage was left in the parking lot. You guys must have had a pretty big car to fit your family(4) plus the other couple and their "kids"(implying at least 4 others). I'm going to assume it was their car since if it wasn't you would have had the keys with you in the restaurant. So you brought your whole family out here with only enough money for the trip, without a car, without a job lined up, and expected to survive?
But somehow you have a computer? How were you originally expecting to buy food let alone presents and toys for the kids? Have you called the police about your other belongings? And if I may be so bold, what did you use to cut down the tree? You had an axe in your luggage? No offense but i'm just trying to figure this story out.If your story is true, you can try asking grocery stores for food. They throw tons of food away each night that they can't sell if it's a day past the "sell by" date (baked goods, dairy, even produce etc.). Some of them have churches etc. that pick it up on a regular basis. |

If the story is true OP has received plenty of advice. If not, then to those of you who gave advice 'Thank You' for at least caring.
As always, you can't believe everything you read on the internet.. |
