Post Sense of a Big city in Orlando?

Does Orlando provide a big city feel and/or a Cosmopolitan feel? What I mean by that is, are there a lot of shops, bars/clubs, restraunts, and entertainment venues downtown. Also, does the downtown life continue after 5pm? I'm considering to either move to Orlando or Tampa or stay in Atlanta where I'm from.

5pm? The bar/club scene doesn't even start until well after that. It's not really a big city feel though. There's plenty of bars/clubs but not so many shops etc. No one goes downtown to go shopping.

We have big city problems, I do know this.. Crime, traffic/congestion, people are impatient, everyone in a hurry to go nowhere. What part of this doesnt shout "big city?" I am looking forward to leaving one day..

The Orlando area feels like one big suburb without a big city to support it. Kind of like the NYC suburbs, but without NYC.

Not yet But I think it`s headed that way maybe another 10 or 15 years. I would either stay in Atlanta or try Miami.

Orlando is not a bad city IMO but not Cosmopolitan. There is plenty to do but it`s not contained downtown. Although there are alot of night clubs downtown. The weekend downtown is busy and you can see some crazy things.

Yeaaah I wouldn't suggest Miami!!!South Beach is nice and all but you can keep the rest!!!From what you're asking I would suggest staying in Atlanta.

If your a young single professional, Miami (especially South Beach) is a great place to be. Likewise the Orlando downtown night scene is pretty lively, but not on par with Miami or Atlanta, but much better than you would expect.

My girlfriend lived in Buckhead (north Atlanta) for about 2 years after college before taking a job in Orlando. She's been here nearly 2 years and is dying to move back to Atlanta, both for the city and her parents living nearby. Orlando is like an extension of a small college town like Gainesville. There are more clubs and bars downtown, but all the decent shopping is at and around the Malls down I-4. If you liked that college lifestyle, I suppose Orlando is decent. If you are looking for a professional city with museums, theater, major sporting events beyond NBA, you're already there.
