Whats your opinion?
Lots of Families? Great schools? Crime? |

Yes, yes, not much. If I were to stay in the Orlando area, I'd pick Winter Springs, Lake Mary, or Oviedo (my current location). They're all in Seminole county, which have much better schools and lower crime than most of Orange county.

yea our current investigation of areas has come up with Winter Springs as mainly "white bread" typ of community. We are trying to figure out if it's at the early stages of turning or not. For the most part current info says that the high school kids are even normal....WOW!

why? is "white bread" supposed to be the only thing that is "normal"?

perhaps I need to define that SMB. "White bread" in this means that I walk into Publix and there is white bread upon white bread....no cuban bread to be found. It is not refering to the 70's/80's version of the term.
While somewhat similar, it's still different. Live by Avalon Park and you'll know why. |

I'd prefer to live in Winter Springs or Oveido over any other city around Orlando, if job location and commuting was not a factor.
While I really like Clermont and Mt. Dora for their Hills, I still would take WS's schools, lower crime rates, and natural beauty over Clermont any day. |

okay okay i get it...it's just really annoying with all the offensive comments on here. We don't talk so much like that up north and then I get on these Florida threads and many people are bashing homosexuals and hispanics and it's awful. I love Cuban bread by the way and I eat it with butter and coffee quite frequently...lol. Is there really no spanish groceries in the winter springs or oviedo area? I don't want to travel too far to get to one, I am looking into the Alafaya part of the Oviedo area.

SMB -
I'm am from "up north" and surprisingly yes we do talk like that...as long as you get away from the overly useless people (known as the politically correct). To answer the question - we have not found any spanish groceries in Winter Springs, and we have never had an issue with any hispanics until the PR crowd of the "Alafaya Trail Area" specifically in Avalon Park/ Waterford area. To be quite direct - when the attitude is loudy stated in public from one of them - and I quote - "I'm Puerto Rican I don't have to do listen to anything you say I'll do what I want" . This came from a waitress at a restaurant. |

Check out Publix for cuban food. They have a good selection, they have cuban bread, chorizo, mojo and the meat market even has palomia steaks. If they don't have what you want, ask them, they will get it for you.
