Other than private schools there are no K-12 schools in Florida, rather people put their kids through the districts, meaning they'll be in class with the same kids from elementary into middle into high school. Often times here when people refer to school districts they say just the name of the High school, but basically mean the high school and all it's feeder schools. However, I do believe Blankner in the Delaney and Wadeview parks is a K-8 school. Than after that the kids go to Boone HS which is considered a pretty good school.

Oviedo would put both of you on the 417, one person commuting north the other south. Maitland the best schools are east of I4. Dommerich Estates is a nice area in Maitland.

The commute from Kissimee will be pretty tough, anywhere from 35 mins - 1+ hour. Leave well before 8. Consider taking the 417 during you commute.

I did not know that I had to look for middle and then high school. No wonder most of the schools were showing K-5 or K-8.

So I will look into Maitland, Lake Eola, Delaney Park, Baldwin Park ,winter park. Commute wise based on your advices this seems to be the best.I will look at lake Mary as well as at least one person's commute can be avoided completely. But that is the last option.

So for one month, I will have to suffer a bit going from Kissimmee.

You might also want to check out the Dr. Phillips area. (I lived there for many years and my eldest attended the public schools there through the 8th grade before we left the state). We never had a complaint about the schools she attended as she was doing very well. I was also pleased that there was a YMCA right across the street from the middle school that offered after-school care. Keep in mind that we left FL in 2002, so things (such as traffic especially) have changed. But I was able to make it to work at Disney in about 20 minutes. It would take longer these days. And to get to lake Mary I'm guessing could take an hour or so. (Possibly more depending on traffic). But from my experience, it was a great area at the time... I think it is still pretty solid.
