Hi everyone thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your advice I kind of know the answer to my questions but hear it from you.

Ok here is my story and my question so Im 35 and currently just got laid off from my previous job due to a closure of my company I was there for 8 years and just recently moved back to live with my mother and brother since I am going through a seperation from my ex as well. I have been out living away from home since age 19 and I'm 35 now and im not use to living with family at all im thinking of moving to orlando soon but I don't have a job lined up so do u think I should move to orlando then look for work while I'm there ? Or should I save up as much as I can right now and move once I found employment? I can survive without a job for abt 4 months realistically. I currently live in central nj and hate it soo much I have been waiting and wanting to move out to Orlando for so long but in a way I should really live here and save up then go get the free short term training for either dental assistance or pharmacy tech then move in September instead that way I'll have abt 6 months of emergency fund. I'm so anxious to get out of here it's not a good environment for me to be here since I am not comfortable here at all and I live in a small bedroom with my cat. I feel like I should just move in April instead whether I have a job or not and I'm willing to work hard just to have my own apartment and be in a better environment then now . It's not my family it's me sibce I use to live with my ex and he was always at work and I'm use to be the woman of the house and I love my privacy of having my own place . Sorry if this is all over the place .. So what do u think I should do?

Save as much $$ as you can and get a job in advance. Am sure others will chime in. Dental assistance or pharm. tech training sound good too but I thought those courses were more intensive than just a few months, maybe they'll give you an option when you finish the 'free' course - would talk to those who have done it and really research it to make sure they're really legit (and free). Best wishes

Thanks for advice the dental assistant program or pharmagy tech is something that I would add to my job search just to have sonething else other then what I have experience in and the state will pay for my training.

I wouldn't move until you have a job lined up, unless you are looking for a minimum wage job. Orlando has a lot "pros" but a strong job market is not one of them. What kind of job are you looking for? You mentioned applying in person, but that is usually only for minimum wage jobs.

And if not minimum wage, it will be pretty close to it. While I also hate applying to jobs online, I can't recommend moving here without a job lined up. Not unless you have SEVERAL thousands of dollars put aside to support you for a good 2 or 3 months.

It is very difficult to get an in-state job with an out-of-state address. That said, I'm not sure what your original career was that you'd be looking to find employment in if you don't go for additional training.

I'd suggest getting any training for new career options as possible (especially if it is free training that will provide you with certifications) and apply for different positions that you feel qualified for, not only in Orlando, but throughout the state of Florida. If no job comes through that allows you the ability to move down for a living wage, once you've finished up the training up north, then see where the best options for job searches were coming up in the state and move there for six months with an exit plan in place if employment doesn't happen in those six months. Get a job that can support you in Florida -- in any part of Florida -- to get you that Florida address. At that point, you can focus your job search on Orlando, and you'll have the in-state address to help.

Hi guys sorry I forgot to mention that my previous employment was in the casino industry in atlantic city I was a beverage ambassador and a beverage server and prior to that position I was in retail for a long time and prior to retail I was a cna for 3 years though I do not plan on working as a cna ever again but I love the restaurant and hotel industry and would love to get into it. I guess I'm looking for a customer service/ hotel restaurant type of jobs! New Jersey is getting worst and worst! It's very expensive and there are more then 8000 people were laid off at the same time that I did. I am probably going to try my best to live with family as long as I can and take advantage of the free training then move in September whether I have a Job lined up or not but by September I should have abt 5 months in saving to get through without employment!

I guess... I mean, you CAN find cheap apartments for approx. $800/month, some even lower... Add utilities and you're close to a thousand. Food and supplies for yourself, another $200-$300... Yeah, It's possible... It will be hard, but if you set your mind to it, you can do it.

Good luck
