It absolutely sounds like a need to go someplace different and do something to shake up your paradigm.

The sad truth is that in the hospitality/retail/bar/restaurant employment scene, the only way to make a decent living is to work towards management (and usually a degree is "preferred") or find some sort of niche. For instance, one of my friends got his sommelier certification. It's not cheap ($500-800 per level of testing, and you need to have the knowledge going in), but that allows you to work towards higher-end establishments.

Finding that perfect place with low CoL and high wages is something people have been trying for ages…and as soon as a place gets like that, it gets overpopulated and the economy burns out. Here's hoping you can find a place to get ahead and get some experience and education that makes you stand out so that you can eventually find a place that is healthy for you to put down roots.

Orlando not bad in a way but not ideal, there's better options out there, can't beat theme parks though.

I'm just going to throw this out there but have you thought about maybe a college town like Gainesville Davie? It's usually lower COL because of all the college students, you'll be away from your family and there's a huge dating pool of girls your own age. And it may put you in a position to get onto a new career path. It doesn't have to be Gainesville, or even Florida for that matter. Maybe any small college town.

Better options is subject to opinion. Those of us who chose to live here do so because it's the best option for us, all things considered.
As for the theme parks, most of us couldn't care less about them. They are far out geographically, and at the very back of our minds.

I'm very back and forth with Orlando. Part of what has kept me here are the friends I've made and just the overall "comfort" level, navigating the city and the really fun downtown. But at the same time, I know this is not forever. There are things about central Florida that just aren't fun. And while I refrain from making sweeping statements about people - let's face it, Florida in general is home to a lot of crazy, irresponsible, and yes, trashy people - and I don't throw the latter word around. You take the bad with the good.

Anyway. When I finish up my masters, I know I will have some decisions to make.

What I'm trying to say is, give yourself some time to stew, think, and set some goals. Find out what the biggest problem is right now, and try to face that head on. What do you want to do with your life? You're still young, and figuring that out is a process that'll take awhile, but start thinking about that and see where that takes you mentally. Give yourself a timeline and then see how you feel. I'm the king of impulsive decisions and it's gotten me into so much trouble - I know you're not making any impulsive decisions per se since you're not moving to Vegas next week, but hey, remember that there are things about Orlando that brought you back. I don't encourage you staying in Orlando forever (not by a long shot), but I'd recommend thinking more long term.

Many of the problems you have are self-created (lack of education to gain well paying employment being #1) and will follow you everywhere. Do you really want to be 70 years old still waiting tables or spinning a roulette wheel in a smokey casino because of lack of education?

There are plenty of two BR condos for rent for $1200 a month, but you refuse to shore with someone which would save you around $600 a month. You also insisted upon driving a car that you had to take a loan for, even though you had a perfectly good, and paid for car.

I suspect that in two years you'll be back here talking about how good it is to be back in Orlando and how you had a bad situation and had to leave LV quickly. It will become a never ending cycle.

PS--Will that expensive car with a loan attached make it to Vegas?

Have you ever considered working on a cruise ship? Put your stuff into storage for $100 a month and get a job working on a cruise ship (Disney is supposed to be one of the better lines to work for) for a couple of years. Plenty of available women work on ships, room and board paid for, you see the world. Yes, you will work hard (65 hours a week, but no commute) but you should be able to save $20K a year. It might not be a bad idea for you.
