not so beautify and not so "green"..
The city does not have so well-founded culture events. Only some theme parks and chain restaurants. here are some questions: 1) Is there any good local grocery stores to sell local produce regularly? Not the farmers marked every weekend. 2) The power company is so greedy in central florida, they would bury all powerlines. Make all orlando streets so ugly. 3) No recyle here. There is no tax on glass bottles. |

Yes Orlando is not a progressive city at all, this place seems to take 3 steps backwards and 1 step forward every 10 years or so.

I must say that Orlando has taken a few steps backwards when it comes to proper growth and Development. Some say it was due to the control that Disney has over the town, however it's mainly due to the lack of participation from the residents when it comes to electing the public officials/local government. When election time rolls around the same demographic of voters participate and elect those who represent their best interest. I would suggest using some of the frustration to get out and make a change.

We have recycling here in Volusia. Tax on glass bottles isn't an Orlando responsibility, its a state thing. As for Cultural events have you been to Bob Carr, I have enjoyed a couple plays there. I think Orlando has grown to quickly to keep up in the right way. I agree that more power lines need to be buried, when the hurricanes came through we saw how important that was. My neighborhood has buried power lines therefore no tree can knock them over. I wish the road system would get updated. I spoke to a neighbor who works for that department and he confirmed, its not just our imagination, the road system is sadly behind what it should be for the amount of people who live here. Of course its going to take a long time for them to catch up. I was thrilled when they got the road widened up here AND the new bridge open and working. |

I came from california, after I got my PhD there. I move here because I got an offer to do research.
I don't mind the weather. But powerlines, schools, city plans, and other things really make me think orlando is like cities from the third world countries. |

LOL, thats a pretty condescending thing to say and far from accurate, how many third world countries have you been to? If you think Orlando is bad, you should check out Miami.
