After selling only condos for 9 years I can assure you that private use trucks are permissable as long as they don't look like work trucks. If you have a truck that is a normal passenger truck then I would venture to say that the verbiage is wrong and I would motion for an amendment to the condo docs for clarity going forward. Unless there's more to the story it seems that you are correct. I would revisit this with the association. Also, how long had you lived there before this "infraction" was brought to your attention? Good luck!

An attorney representing an HOA will only support the boards interpretation.
Court is the only way to resolve the dispute. So far courts have ruled that enforcing the bylaw solely on pickups is in violation of ones constitutional right, unreasonable as applied to passenger pickups since the other two models of truck, suv/minivan, are not being restricted. This is only cases where the bylaw uses the word 'truck' in general.

My association will allow pickup trucks, just no commercial vehicles which would be trucks or vans with business painted on the side. Removable magnetic signs are fine as long as they are removed. What gets to me is the Brighthouse trucks parked at peoples homes when you know they live there and when written up swear they were doing a service call. Yeah like you can get the cable company out at 9:30 pm to fix a problem.

I HATE HOAs
never been a fan, never have , never will

If I could find a place without one Id be so happy !

they create mini hitlers going round on thier own agendas, snitching on you coz your grass too high, or your tree needs trimming etc

I hate 'em !

I agree with you. Years ago, the board members didn't like our neighbor. He had his camper parked behind his fence. Because the roof of the truck could be seen from the street, he was in violation and wound up selling his camper. However, another neighbor whose unkept yard was an eyesore (in violation of the covenants) was never told by the board members to clean up his mess, because that person was good friends with one of the board members. (Reminds me of "Desperate Housewives").

We currently live where there is an HOA. They are all 5- to 6-acre parcels. Three of us kept our land, fronting the street, cut and cleaned. The HOA hired someone to clean up the uncut parcels and billed ALL the property owners, including the three of us.

Therefore, WE paid for the people who didn't maintain their property.

When we relocate to Florida, we are hoping to find a place without an HOA - although very difficult to find these anymore.

iuki
