Thinking of moving from Miami to Orlando to start new. (Plan on moving to Seattle later)

I know rent is much cheaper in Orlando than Miami, but where is there a good area to live? Something that's close enough to nightlife, the parks (AP holder!)

Currently make about $600-$700 a week

Looking for a studio or 1 bedroom
NO ROOMMATES
Dog friendly

Well, first of all, what did you not like about Miami?
Second, do you HAVE a job in Orlando lined up?

As for a studio/1 bedroom in the $700-$800 close enough to activity, you shouldn't have a hard time finding that.
I've seen several in Altamonte, Maitland, and even in winter Park. Winter Park would be your best bet for proximity to nightlife.

1. I can't stand the people in Miami
2. The culture is boring
3. People there suck

Haven't got a job yet, but the company I work for transfers people easily.

Have you looked at Ft. Lauderdale? Might be a good fit for you since you don't like the people in Miami, but what kind of culture do you think you'll find in Orlando?

This... It won't be much different from Miami culture...
Tampa is slightly different.

How do you expect people from Miami to know what are affordable rents in Orlando ? While the cultural venues are decent, I don't see where Orlando is anymore bourgoise than Miami and Miami is definitely more exciting than Mickey Mouse Town.

If you want to be close to parks I would recommend living west of I-4, somewhere in Metrowest (32535), Millenia (32839), or Dr. Phillips (32819) where you are close to the parks and have easy access to major roads to make it to Downtown where the nightlife is.

I just got back from Seattle, used to live there and still have lots of family there. Besides the weather, it's an amazing city!

Dr. Phillips would be your best choice (central location, near the parks, very safe, very nice), enjoy!

1) I agree, this is the main reason why I never moved to Miami. I've met nice people there, don't get me wrong, but overall, not my cup of tea.

2) I'm a bit confused on this because I think Miami has probably the most interesting culture in Florida, maybe Key West... so I'm not sure if you will be satisfied with Orlando, probably not in this category anyways.

3) See answer to 1 lol.

Funny, I moved to Orlando (Winter Park) from Miami and Seattle was one of the places I wanted to move to. I never cared about the nightlife so that didn't determine where I moved. I guess the nightlife in Orlando is downtown..not sure. I will tell you people in Orlando are overall friendlier, but it's still filled with lots of fake people..but that's everywhere right? I think Miami has better culture, but Orlando has interesting things that I didn't see in Miami. Orlando is definitely more affordable, even gas is cheaper up here.
