Well another bad thing happened in Orlando the past few days. The radio station 105.9 is no more. 101.1 and 105.9 were my favorite stations, I just hope 101.1 stays here for a very long time. Damn. Their playlists were great, their personalities were great and every other radio station is garbage except 101.1. Orlando just keeps getting worse.

I heard they may become a classic hits station, similar to WCBS-FM in NYC. We will find out at 1:05:09pm tomorrow afternoon.

The music they are playing now is atrocious, godawful music only people on their deathbed would want to listen to.

It gets exponentially worse by the second. They had one sports talk radio show in the afternoon on a 24 hour sports station. The city couldn't support it, it's gone and surprise something replaced it that this city (the only thing) this city seems to support: Spanish radio!!!!! 100.3FM played great oldies at one time, 3 years ago it switched to Spanish as well. Rumor has it, they may stop teaching English in Orange and Osceola schools because it is a language of the past.

Maybe they will bring Mike Harvey to 105.9.

I have Sirius but would turn to O-rock from time to time to listen to Drew. Now we are stuck with Real Rock as our only choice for Rock music.... its fine if you love Nickelback and Chris Daughtry but that's not for me. Also, I used to win a bunch of free stuff from O-rock including tickets to Godsmack one time... man I am going to miss that too!

I read that they will be doing Pod-casts starting soon with Drew and a few other DJ's and in the meanwhile Drew is working as a server in a friends restaurant. He probably makes more money doing that then he did on the radio.

Default Agreed

I have to agree with you that I was saddened to see the loss of this station. I am interested in seeing what the new format will be, as I am extremely speculative that this very odd "history of Rock n Roll" will continue to be.

Orlando is one of the largest metropolitan markets for radio, and anyone who has ever looked into advertising will agree with my when I say that the advertising rates certainly reflect this. However, in my opinion, our stations are lacking the cultural diversity that makes up our market. With our average resident's age being somewhere between 35-50, I am surprised to see that we have very few stations that appeal to this age range. Anyone who has Sirius Satellite knows the diveristy in music. GREAT MUSIC, alternative rock, coffe house acoustic, acid jazz, etc, that we seem to be lacking. And all of this 80s comeback??? UGH! I got enough of "turning Japanese" and "Rock the Casbah" in High School. Must I relive those bad clothes and big hair days all over again?!??!

I wonder what will come of Drew and Savannah.....lets hope we dont find her swinging on a pole again......she is too witty for that!
