I am looking for info on the Orlando area. I have a multiracial family through adoption and am curious about an area in the Orlando area that has good race relations, good schools, is safe and is a good place to raise a family. Suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks for the help!

Dr. Phillips or Winter Park - These areas are very nice, safe, diverse and accepting. I graduated from Dr. Phillips high school and I'm mixed race too.

I would recommend checking out Altamonte Springs or Longwood. Both the Lake Brantley HS and Lyman HS districts are academically strong for the most part and racially diverse/accepting overall.

Part of the reason my multiracial family (White and Filipino) ended up in the newer part of Windermere is because it is incredibly ethnically diverse. My daughter doesn't get any odd looks about being biracial--her class is more diverse than it was when we lived up in the Washington, DC area even! With the exception of the current high school (West Orange), the rest of the schools in this area are wonderful, and there is a new high school that will be opening up for this area within the next few years.

As long as you stay in the tri-county area (Orange, Osceola, Seminole) the race issue wont be an issue. Its more important to find whats within your budget and with a reasonable commute.

To be honest, it isn't much of an issue in most of Lake County either. Clermont and Mount Dora are two very accepting areas.
Of course, the more rural areas (Astatula, Umatilla, Paisley, etc.) are out of the question, but the same can be said of some parts of Osceola County.

Central Florida is not a racist place IMHO but everybody has their own opinions but with so many transplants and just in general nice accepting people it makes this place a wonderful area. You meet the occasional a**holes time an time again however that's life. Good luck with the move with your family as you would be contributing to a more diverse Orlando metro area.
