Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. We are only going to rent the first year, while we learn the area and watch the market. There are so many communities, it is very confusing...for example, I just discovered Hunter's Creek and yet am disappointed that a "Master" planned community does not have a fun recreational pool. It is Florida! Plus I read their blog online and it had postings about several just crime events that scare me.
Eagle Creek sounds nice with the future plans, but doubt the shopping, town center, swim/tennis will come soon given the slump. There is a big selection in rental homes, with new ones being added daily, it just has me bouncing (google maps) all over town! Nice to have options. I would like to consider seminole or even Lake county, but my husband is bent to being close to Disney, within 8 miles. |

Okay, I don't know if you are going to even see this. Everyone will have their favorites based on where they live. Basically you can quadrant orange county into 4 sections...nw,sw,etc...you first have to figure out where you need to be based on your needs. If your husband wants to be close to disney, that would by the SW area. I lived in Hunter's Creek and moved out to the Windermere/Winter Garden area about 5 years ago. We love it!! Stoneybrook West sounds perfect for you. about 15 minutes from Disney. Has Town Center, Club house, lots and lots of families, tennis court, playground, huge community pool, boat dock, fishing pier, basketball ct...etc....There are many many homes for sale and some for rent. Let me know if you would like some more information....if not then good luck in your move and search.

Celebration has a downtown (with bookstore, several restaurants, clothing shops, ice cream shop, Starbucks, etc..) a shopping center at the entrance to town and a planned civic corridor with a new church, library, soccer fields and hopefully a dog park. We have 4 town pools (one heated) and another pool/clubhouse for people living in the Artisan Park section. We have a community center, library, several ball fields (little league) and several schools in town. There are swim clubs, gymnastics, several dance schools and other activities for kids/adults.
