We are choosing to relocate to Orlando due to the housing slump! There are some great rentals. So my question is what would you recommend based on our situtation.
We are considering Vista Lakes and Avalon Park are there any other communities, Bellalago is just too far out? I just surfed my way around and found those two. Now reading about the section 8 and crime near Avalon Park I am leaning towards Vista Lakes. 1. We work from home and home school so location/school is not so important as long as we can get to our extra cirr. activities. Four kids keeps us on the road. 2. Really want to be in a newer planned community with lots of amenities, like a nice pool and town center. Thanks! ![]() ![]() |

South Orlando(Southchase, Falcon Trace, Hunters Creek, Meadow Woods), it seems to be in the right location, your not too far from anywhere in that area. Avalon Park is just plain old boring and not much to do! And its the Outcast of the city lol. |

MONALISA, if I were you I would consider Lake Nona, It's just a skip away from Vista Lakes and it has a lot of potential for appreciation in the next 5 to 10 years. Lake Nona has a more exclusive feeling than Vista Lakes. Vista lakes is a great area however, I prefer Lake Nona. I'm not sure if you've seen the news, but there's a lot of publicity of bombs found in the area, thus depreciating the area. If you need more information let me know.

Well I haven't had anyone give me good recommendations on Avalon Park, so I think we will steer clear.
How about Providence Golf Club? Seems to be just as many miles out as Avalon. Keep in mind we are not commuting, only go into Orlando few evenings for kid activities. I was thinking I'd be going against traffic if that is ever possible on I4? |

Have you looked into Eagle Creek it is right next to Lake Nona and it is being developed right now. They are a gated golf course community, eventually they are going to have their own shopping area, restaurants, tennis, swimming, and all sorts of sports facilities for your kids, even a hotel. I think it will be an all inclusive type of community. If you go inside the golf course club house they have a picture of what the planned community will look like when it is finished. Craigslist.com has houses for sale and for rent available.

Eagle Creek is very nice, and so is Lake Nona. I would recommend either but it's going to be based on your preference of Floor plan. Avalon Park is not the most desired at the moment due to the Power Plant view. Lake Nona and Eagle Creek have a great YMCA and will be home to the new Medical school for UCF. The only downside is TRAFFIC in the mornings and evenings...

Traffic problems to Lake Nona will soon be fixed with the road expansion that is being done currently.

Are you planning on buying or renting? Apartment, house or condo? There are so many areas and I believe the slump will be with us for more than a couple years. You might want to consider renting for a year to see if the area you choose will be right for your needs. First an apartment and then a house. You'll see so many more options as a renter than as a homeowner, why not bide your time and rent first? Everyone will have their own idea of what area they like but that doesn;t mean you'll like it too.
The advantage of a condo or apartment is that all teh amenities are right there at your finger tips and you don't have to worry with lawn work or house maintenance. A great many townhomes offer decent yard space and even a shed to store bikes and such things. If you like to barbecue or have a patio, many apartments have a good sized balcony and lower levels usually have privacy fences so you can really enjoy tanning right outside your home. While renting, some of those field trips will take you into other areas and especially with kids, taking them to a friend's house will open your eyes to some really off the beaten path to locations you may not have thought of. |
