I live north of Daytona. It's an odd little town but there are quite a few young people. Be careful of certain areas- there is a decent amount of nightlife. You'll be getting here just as they gear up for race weeks- it will be crazy with traffic and stuff going on. Shortly after that, the bikers come in, followed by the spring breakers. You'll get to experience all of Daytona's Cultural Events in your first six weeks!

Once these events are behind you it will get quieter and more "normal."

What do you like to do? I might be able to direct you a little better.

Jax is kind of far from Daytona (nearly 2 hours drive), let's try this Q in Orlando, I think Daytona and Orlando are roughly 30 minutes apart?

Sorry OP, one more move.........

I would suggest new smyrna beach it`s cleaner more hip and less traffic from all the events that Daytona has.

Around those nightspots in Daytona don`t be surprised to step in vomit and broken glass, some areas are fairly nasty.

Daytona is basically an armpit. If you own a motorcycle, have mega tatoos and are under 25 move there, if not run like hell. New Smyrna is very nice.

For once I agree with KL, Daytona is not the kind of place I care to hang out.

I have had friends who went to school there and worked there and if you take into consideration all the biker get togethers and the race weeks, the traffic there can be pretty horrifying.

I spoke with an FBI agent one time who worked in Daytona and he said the things that go on there would shock me.

When my daughter and I go to the beach we go to Ponce Inlet/Port Orange area.

Forgot to mention there is also an active serial killer in Daytona that`s been there for 2 years.
