Amscot scams people with "free" money orders. It's free but it's not "free" because they ask you to fill out a report when it goes over a certain amount and I don't play that. It's 2k at other places like Ace, so why does Amscot start asking questions after like $500. This is why I don't do business with them.
I've only obtained MO's there twice, both were for under $100, so I wouldn't know about that. There were no questions asked. I gave them cash, they handed over the MO, they didn't even ask my name.
That said, I'd never do payday advance or similar with them or anyone else.
In what state can you do this: if you call out sick they can and usually do fire you, if your kid gets sick oh well too bad, if your car breaks down better start walking, there is no excuse that they will buy into, and no the labor board cannot help you,
AND NOT GET FIRED and have some "labor board" or anyone else get you help?
A job is a job. You are expected to be there on time to do the job. Surely if you worked through a lunch break they paid you the 1/2 hour of time you worked?

Those of you who ask and wonder why we would work at such a place read carefully b4 u post a stupid reply, we are lied to by the recruiter who is also in fear of losing her job daily, she has to lie to hire, then we are lied to by the trainers, then we arrive at a branch where we are subjected to long hours with no breaks and if you are sick you work, vomit quickly and hurry back to work, and trust me there will be many customers yell and call you names even if they think you are taking a break, the customers are pure trash, most cannot get a bank account, the others who can live off cash advances where amscot and greed allow people on unemployment receive cash advances that the cannot pay back, the customers usually are foul and uneducated, talking trash and using nasty language, they have no self respect so its hard to expect them to have respect for us, they will cal you *****, moron, idiot, *****....tell you to f off....and there is nothing you can do....amscot loves these sort of people, they make millions off poor people and people who cant go anywhere else, if you want to get married or you have a family event it will more than likely not be approved, if it falls on a weekend it wont be approved....you will never have a weekend or holiday off....and if a customer complain about you then you will be placed on final warning and next be fired.....the district leaders will never ask you what happened (bill worling) they will only believe the customer....and if you try to explain they will yell and write you up for making excuses...these customers they put so much faith in will spit at the teller windows, **** on the lobby floor, crap on the floor, **** in the garbage cans, change tampons in the lobby, and throw their garbage on the floors....and we have to clean it up....now this is a list of what should really be told....dont believe me? then come on down and apply.... i give you 2 months to feel what we all feel....there are no jobs out there and we are all looking, recruiters, branch leaders, co leaders, assistents, FSA's....not one person i have met in 5 years is happy, we are just simply stuck....you can read indeed.com reviews of amscot, those are other employees telling the truth....and one last thing to all you low life customers, we dont steal your money, when you come in to cash your check there of course is a fee, go get a bank acct if you dont want to pay, and if you owe us money we are going to collect it, or we get fired, pay your bills and you wont have to worry, and those of you taking your bad moods out on us just remember the glass is there to protect you from us, we talk bad about each of you we think you are the lowest form of the living, and you are dirty and gross and yeah we can smell your funky nastiness under the windows, wear a bra, take a bath, comb your hair, and stop coming in pajamas, my god have some class......we dont want to hear your excuses on why you cannot pay your cash advance, we could care less, and when you walk in and see other customers waiting do not expect we will take you next just because you only need one quick thing, get over yourself, you are in an amscot, and really its a glorified sleezy check cashing joint......seminole county bill worlings district

You need to get your facts about florida straight because there is no state that protects employees
who violate policy or dont show up for work. that is how those people who moving up to assistant, co leader, branch leader etc are doing it.

Yeah. Financially smart people don't. It's called an emergency fund. Payday loans, Buy here/Pay Here Used car lots and rent-to-own are some of the biggest financial scams around.
Maybe they don't have the skills necessary to do anything else.
Maybe the only job available in these tough times.
They are predator companies as far as I am concerned. They are designed to make money for Amscot
at the expense of their customers who are usually pretty low on the economic scale. In NYC the
thing was "Check Cashing" stores all over the place. Ridiculous rates, but instant cash in exchange for a valid check. These things have their costs.

If I need some extra cash I'll call them Western Sky Indians up, and for a $5000 loan I get $4500 up front and I'll pay the 25k off in the next 5 years. Yes the money is expensive but the good thing is you don't need any collateral because most people that need $5000 have a lot of collateral from what I hear.

I met a repo guy once, he told me the story of an old toyota corolla from the early 2000's that's made the lot at least well over 150k throughout the years because it's been repo'ed like 50 times.
Florida,like many states in the durty south, is a right to work state. I call jobs like these "stepping stone" type jobs. You take them while looking for something better or going to school. If you think your going to work there for 20+ years till retirement you are officially out of your mind.
It is obvious that you have no idea what a "Right to Work" state is.

Exactly. But the brown nose notorious frequent posters are too closed minded to accept that not everybody has the same opportunities in life.
