hey folks, I live up here in JAX. but I am down in Orlando at least once a month. I would move there, but my job keeps me here in Jax. my questions is NOT about national concerts, but the local music. I am looking for information about local cover bands, mainly rock oriented, 80's-90's music and what bars/clubs they play at. so if anyone has any information they can throw out it would be much appreciated.

There are quite a few, but it depends on the kind of scene you're looking for.
This little hole-in-the-wall bar in Sorrento called Oasis has some REALLY good bands on weekends, but the place is a bit shady.

Not a whole lot of cover bands in this area. It's a hot bed for original music. For cover bands maybe try Adobe Gilas on I Drive or the Shovelhead in Longwood. I can't really think of any others without going to the coast.

I am not overly connected with the local rock scene but here are some resources that may guide you in the right direction.

Music | Orlando Weekly
The Beacham | Live
House Of Blues

NONE of those clubs host cover bands except for the Hard Rock Live "Album" series. Cover bands at EDBD? You're joking, right? most of the bands on the best of list are original, not cover. Also most are not 80-90's bands.

I'm guessing you don't get out much.

thank you EVERYONE for the input and advise, I'll keep the search going and hopefully find something. I like good original music also, but I like to be able to go out and here the hits and dance and such.

Velvet Sessions at Hard Rock Hotel at Universal has had a lot of cover bands play there. Not sure if they're 80's-90's bands, but it's worth checking out.

What? Velvet Sessions isn't cover bands, it's the original artists. Granted in many cases it's one member left from the artist, but it's not "cover bands."

I clearly stated in my post that indie rock is not my local area of expertise, I provided the OP with a list of potential venues that in the past have historically hosted a variety of concerts and events including cover bands, in addition, the Orlando Weekly link I posted provides information on the local music scene in general which the OP was asking about..

I remember a Led Zeppelin and a Beatles cover band playing there in the past. I was just giving them another option to check out.
