Debating a move to Fla in retirement but hoping to keep costs down. Anyone from or living in this area or others they consider a good alternative to more pricey areas, I'm all ears!

Do you have to live in a coastal city? Reason I ask is that generally less pricey areas are in the center of the state.

The key is to avoid the coasts. The retirement best buy in FL in my opinion is Gainesville where you get the goods/services of larger cities along with excellent healthcare at the University of Florida-Shands Medical Center. Also unlike much of FL, Gainesville has not seen the unplanned/uncontrolled growth that has led to traffic congestion.
