When I was at Amway last, I was looking out the window and saw a stadium with the Orlando City banner about 4 blocks straight down. Honestly wasn't sure if that was Citrus or the new stadium.

It was likely the Citrus Bowl as it can also be seen in the distance from the upper concourses of the Amway Center and there are currently large Orlando City banners on the Citrus Bowl on both the East and West sides.

Citrus Bowl is further than four blocks. It's about a mile between them.

They broke ground in 2014 and construction is currently in full swing. If all goes as planned, the stadium should be open by late 2016.

After coming from a metro area that basically duped all the tax payers to fund a good chunk of a $1+ billion NFL stadium, and $700+ million baseball stadium in recent years, this is a refreshing thing to see. We need more pro-sports owners that will fund stadium builds out of their own pockets. This is a complete PR win for the OCSC organization and the city of Orlando.

Good, its going to be great when City SC has their own bulding, that they probably won't leave for years. I'm curious how that rotating Lion statue will be like? The Citris Bowl still needs more events though. Maybe more football or xgames.

In many of those situations the tax payer gains the amenity of keeping a team and bringing more events to their city.

We need more College Football Neutral Game sites and International Soccer Events. And I can always dream about getting some actual NFL games.
