Clermont
What do you all think about Clermont?
I have an aquaintance who loves it there (they live in the Legends subdivision though).
I am not planning on moving there or anything, but we were at one time (last year), so I'm just curious what your opinion is.
I live in Broward County and still enjoy it here.

Nice "hills", but not very good schools, a lot of traffic on 50 (isolated from the rest of Orlando area), and not the lowest crime rate. Also I don't like the fact that they leveled all of the hills and built mostly featureless cookie cutter homes.

I agree the hills were nice for a scenery change from South Florida - LOL.
It did seem a little isolated for me as far as convenience is concerned (living in Broward I'm used to everything within an arms reach).

If you enjoy where you are but your tired of it's intangible "Browardness" (I can't describe it, but you probably know exactly what I'm talking about) you probably should check out Lake Mary. It doesn't feel as isolated as Clermont but actually has well rated schools and low crime, neatly kept neighborhoods, SHADE TREES, nice parks, and for some random reason it got rated the 4th best place to live in the United States this year. The terrain rolls a little bit too in many parts, some of the side roads in the back of Longwood are really nice.
But, let me tell you this. I lived in both places. I like it down here way better, and both on paper and intangibly, I would have to say our area is better in almost every category. Lake Mary, Oviedo, Winter Springs, Seminole County is nice, but the traffic is very bad and there isn't really much to do compared to our area. If you just want to pull a GTHO (get the heck out), I would head straight down I-4 into one of the Tampa suburbs instead. The scenery in Pinellas County is very nice, there are some small (emphasis on SMALL) sand hills but LOTS of water around and it contrasts nicely.

Reason: need to add "small" LOL

I totally agree with you.
I think the only way I would move out of this area, is if I was to move out of the state.
I definitely wouldn't leave Broward to move to another area in FLorida.

There are some nice spots in the Tampa area that I would live in. There are large sections of Palm Beach County I would live in. Martin County is very nice. Ponte Verda Beach is really nice. The panhandle is very relaxed with beautiful beaches. I wouldn't mind having an apartment in Miami Beach. There are a few other spots I would live in as well in FL.
West Broward (key being west) is good if you don't like a large dose of crime with your diversity. It can't be beat for that. In terms of looking for a place to raise your children to be ready for the changes that are occurring in our country, it's best in class. Call me crazy, but I think some areas are a good place to raise children.
Are you still interested in Charlotte? That area personally doesn't do anything for me. A cool place I think you should consider is Austin, TX.

Not in particular. And remember, parts of Charlotte are prone to flooding. Florida is prone to hurricanes. Pick your poison.
