We are moving from San Francisco to Orlando, FL as in SF home properties are simply ridiculous. We are looking to settle in Orlando soon but wondered about salaries.

Would anyone have an idea for mental health- therapist? OR in general salary ranges in Orlando?

Thank you,

$35 000 a year is typical for mental health counselors in Orlando:

Here is an article I read about how much money it takes to get by in Central Florida.

Here's how much money you have to earn to get by in metro Orlando - Orlando Business Journal

Some will disagree, but it could be helpful to you as you make your decision.

It's helpful and fairly close in terms of Orlando's cost but disagree that Tampa or Jacksonville (in particular) are more expensive, especially if considering housing.

Without sounding greedy i would say for Orlando, 45000 to 50000 annually is a great salary.

Low wages are a problem on many areas, but are particularly worst out west because the COL is so much higher. Inequality is much higher as well

According to that article:

a metro Orlando family of four must make $63,516 to enjoy a "secure, yet modest living."

$63,516 a year equates to $15,879 per person for a family of four or basically $305.37 a week which is a hourly wage of $ 7.63 a hour. That is basically $0.42 cents below the state mandated Minimum wage of $8.05!

Even at $10-12/hour for min wage in places like NYC, Seattle, or sf, you'll never come close to the affordability you get with a low wage job in Orlando
