Do they really think they are all that? Like the big papers up north?

ALL papers need to make money. How do you think they pay their employees? Or do you expect those people to work for free?

The majority of their articles are available to view for free online, they only charge for a few online-only articles that require an online subscription, normally they are special interest stories, nearly every major newspaper does this..

Yup. I subscribe to the NY Times as I like their investigative journalism features.

You can bypass the blocking by google searching on the article name, then clicking on the article.

A lot of news rags are doing that now Joey, its really annoying but many papers are loosing money to the internet. Local news rags have to compete with the 4 big networks webpages (ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC), they have to compete with twitter and facebook. The days of our grandfathers newspaper is changing. Its not just the Sentinel though.

Yep. Everyone from the smaller town papers to the larger national household name papers are charging online subscription fees.

I would not mind paying to view articles if it's a paper I read regualrly. But if I pay to view it, I want all ads to be removed. I consider it doubled dipping to make people pay and still have the site littered with ads. Just my opinion.

Yes. Even the smaller Daytona Beach News Journal gives you about 5 (or so) articles online a month and then locks you out of ANY article unless you subscribe. They have to make money to pay for their website, advertisements arn't enough....

I wouldn't pay for any news subscriptions, but I understand why they are doing it. Advertising isn't enough for most of them to cover expenses. I'm fine with CNN, FOX, MSNBC, YAHOO etc.
